Kasey 01-19-2002, 10:18 PM They're planning to do a routing switchover halfway during the move (which is supposed to be roughly 10 hours total). Provided everything's on schedule, since the move started at 6pm ET, should be about 11pm ET for the switch. The idea is that nobody will have more than 5 hours of downtime. AlaskanWolf 01-19-2002, 10:28 PM my server is creeping pretty close to 5 hours :-/ regier 01-19-2002, 10:59 PM I have one of my servers up, so things are definately progressing. The rest are still down, but at least we know the new network is running fine. H2 01-19-2002, 11:05 PM URL please :) Our servers still down 4h Palm 01-19-2002, 11:31 PM They are moving the servers to a new NOC. Relyc 01-19-2002, 11:52 PM My server has also almost reached the 5hour mark, though it is somewhat comforting to know that at least some of the servers are up. H2 01-19-2002, 11:56 PM Relyc, you are online :) 1 mae-east.twtelecom.com (198.32.187.48) 0 msec 4 msec 0 msec 2 core-01-so-2-1-2.nycl.twtelecom.net (168.215.55.137) [AS 4323] 36 msec 20 msec 20 msec 3 core-02-so-2-2-0.chcg.twtelecom.net (168.215.53.41) [AS 4323] 76 msec 76 msec 76 msec 4 core-01-ge-0-2-1.chcg.twtelecom.net (168.215.53.1) [AS 4323] 68 msec 68 msec 76 msec 5 core-02-so-1-0-0.dnvr.twtelecom.net (168.215.53.14) [AS 4323] 80 msec 80 msec 84 msec 6 66.162.99.254 [AS 4323] 68 msec 72 msec 72 msec 7 66.162.99.2 [AS 4323] 84 msec 84 msec 84 msec 8 HostCulture.com (64.119.171.29) [AS 22963] 92 msec 92 msec 104 msec regier 01-20-2002, 12:08 AM Hmm, I still don't have my other servers up. Once the first one came I thought for sure the others would follow shortly as they are in the same rack. teck 01-20-2002, 12:10 AM My box is up but I can't SSH or get to it. Apache isnt working either.. All sites are down. regier 01-20-2002, 12:13 AM Try doing ssh to your IP address. That should do it. If bind has failed, your url won't work, and the *.vosn.net addresses are still down. Had to login to WHM via IP, restarted all the services and back up... 5 hours and 30 min later. regier 01-20-2002, 12:41 AM I've got 4 up now, so we are getting closer. michaeln 01-20-2002, 01:36 AM VO was up for a little while but now i can't seem to get to any of your sites, or theirs again??? Michael Elena 01-20-2002, 01:40 AM We're still down.. 6 hours and now I can't even get to the vo forums. :bawling: Too much stress for me, I'm going a little insane... H2 01-20-2002, 01:43 AM Originally posted by Elena We're still down.. 6 hours and now I can't even get to the vo forums. :bawling: Too much stress for me, I'm going a little insane... 6h  me too Kasey 01-20-2002, 01:43 AM My server came back up roughly after five and a half hours of being out. None of my services were working, but a quick login to WHM via the IP address and restarting them, and things were back up. Pings seem to be a little faster, though I've already seen some reports of pings going the other direction slightly from the short time the VO forums were up. So, your mileage may vary. ;) Elena 01-20-2002, 01:58 AM I've tried my IP.. looks pretty, doesn't it? I formed a few months back worse. michaeln 01-20-2002, 02:05 AM They must be having some kind of technical problems tonight. Their site just hopped back online and ran great for about 3 seconds and is now gone again... Michael DanielP 01-20-2002, 02:29 AM I want to personally apologize for the extra downtime, please note we did run into a few technical issues and a slight backlogging of servers, however, we are working as fast as we can to resolv them and get all servers back online. Once everything is up and running I will personally run an investigation to find out what went wrong and why and make a announcement to our customers. Again, I do apologize about this, but please know, we are working as fast as we can to get everyone back online. H2 01-20-2002, 02:33 AM Daniel, Why close to us IPs are online, but we are not??? For example, 157.238.46.1* is offline and 157.238.46.16 - online??? 7h :( :( Elena 01-20-2002, 02:35 AM Thanks Dan for reassuring us that nothing really horrible has happened.. you know.. I keep seeing that image of the van going down the road and the servers falling out (from the post at the VO forums).. give me nightmares! :crying: DanielP 01-20-2002, 02:45 AM H2, just because IP's are close togther in a range doesn't necessarily mean the servers are close to each other. Were working as fast as we can thou. Again I do apologize. baileysemt123 01-20-2002, 02:54 AM Oh good it's not just me... when the VO site went back down I though, oh nooooooo... Do I understand that restarting Apache must be done thru root? I am on the Venture shared server, haven't even tried the IP thing but figured there's not much point since I am not root. :) While we're all sitting here on pins and needles, may I ask, of you VO dedicated customers, is the Dedicated Server Quick-start guide pretty complete for starting up as a Dedicated? :D Bailey eva2000 01-20-2002, 04:37 AM Originally posted by baileysemt123 While we're all sitting here on pins and needles, may I ask, of you VO dedicated customers, is the Dedicated Server Quick-start guide pretty complete for starting up as a Dedicated? :D Bailey pretty much complete :) HRBrendan 01-20-2002, 06:03 AM Does anyone know how much bw VO pushes currently? -Brendan regier 01-20-2002, 07:32 AM Yup, I would doubt that they would want it publicly posted though. If you are currious you could send them an email and see if they were willing to tell you. HRBrendan 01-20-2002, 09:16 AM Hey, Yea I sent an email to daniel, hopefully he'll get back to me. -Brendan Synergy 01-20-2002, 09:38 AM Out of curiosity, Why does VO move so often... If they run out of space, can't they just rent another suite from and put new servers there and leave the current servers intact. (disclaimer: I don't know why they are moving tho :) ) alchiba 01-20-2002, 09:42 AM They are moving because the Verio center they're in is closing down. regier 01-20-2002, 09:54 AM How much bandwith does hostrocket pull now? mdrussell 01-20-2002, 10:03 AM Originally posted by Synergy Out of curiosity, Why does VO move so often... If they run out of space, can't they just rent another suite from and put new servers there and leave the current servers intact. (disclaimer: I don't know why they are moving tho :) ) From what I have read, it seems VO have been a little unlucky - they signed a new deal with Verio to get more rackspace only to find out Verio is closing lots of datacenters - including the one they use... By moving to their own facility, this should be more permanent.... HRBrendan 01-20-2002, 10:54 AM Send me an email and I'll let ya know... As you said before this kinda info isnt usually publicly posted. -Brendan auyongtc 01-20-2002, 11:35 AM Although VO is a lil' unlucky having to face so many moves... but they have been very supportive of all clients till date... Ask around VO clients... even I myself would like to extend my gratitude for their professional conduct and excellent quality of support shown by all VO staff, not just one or two who get things right while the rest slacks... no, they have a very dedicated and capable team doing what they're good at! :) No wonder it doesn't make me jump in shock whenever I see a much lower priced competitive equivalent service offered by people here in WHT... coz I'm satisfied with the level of support I get, knowing that the services are backed by top notch personnel and not by a fly-by-night company. Don't mind paying the lil extra, seeing how stable VO is growing! :) Kudos to everyone in VO and everyone who's a fellow client who stand by VO during such moments! Give yourself a pat on the back! :) Tetraboy 01-20-2002, 01:12 PM Rackshack provides MRTG graphs.. Be nice if all providers did that. DanielP 01-20-2002, 07:19 PM Well, there's really not much to hide, I figure it just confirms the size of our firm. Currently were pushing roughly 70-75mbps @ peek with a 95% average of about 68-69mbps. Not too terrible considering we have over 200 servers in the network now. Althou, i'm sure it would have been higher, Verio closing caused many plans to be put on hold and towards the end server sales to be stopped. The skys the limit now! :) HRBrendan 01-20-2002, 09:19 PM Which lines are you running that over right now? Are you running primarily through the time warner line right now or no? Thats who I usually get on traceroutes. How are they treating you guys stability wise? -Brendan DanielP 01-20-2002, 09:47 PM Due to the peering that timewarner has at the moment about 80% of the traffic is going over it rather than the other Gige from Yipes, but we'll take care of that when we get the routing more customized. As far as service they've been great, and as far as reliability we shall see, however, thats also why we have no less than two lines and will be adding a third in the near future. |
