View Full Version : VPSColo what the....?

I'm just wondering how long VPSColo normally takes to activate account and such. I ordered and got sent the email for payment and everything, went and paid, waited, waited, waited... So i emailed them and they said there was a backlog problem and would be fixed later that day. I had no reply for quite a while so i emailed again, at this stage i had been waiting for 24 hours with no sign of activation. I got another reply that stated pretty much the same as last time.

Thinking that this was all going to be resolved quickly i didn't send another email to bug them. It's now been over 32 hours and i haven't heard anything.

This kind of response, or lack of can only make one think a few things:
Have they done a runner with my cash?
Is it going to get to the 48 hour mark and still nothing?
Will i go to sleep again tonight and wake up the next day to find all but a response from the hosting company in which i had invested the amount for one of their plans?

Either way first impressions count, and this has been far from a good first impression. I will still go through with using the account (if it gets setup) because i believe, from what i've read, that they are a good company and i would like to experience their services. But it's a bit dissapointing that there was that type of let down straight of the bat.

Anyway just thought i'd let people know about that so you know when you do a search for VPSColo wanting to know about them.

P.S. I mean no disrespect for VPSColo at all, just unhappy that it happened this way. ;)

Mick.

That is a long time to wait, I hope it's just an issue, any way for you to get in touch directly? :)

Well i've emailed them through their ticket support, and sent the tickets to support and sales, but i don't really know how else i can contact them, i'm not calling cause i'm international. I want to be able to get my VPS setup so i can transfer all my old files from my current host and cancel before the month ends, but everyday this is late is a day closer to the end of the month.. I can't see what the hold up would be.

We do have a backlog at the moment but we did send an email to everyone this morning explaining that. Basically delivery of a new host machine which was expected Friday didn't happen. Did you get the auto-ack from the ticketing system?

I received an email addressing the backlog issue, i then heard no more so emailed again, and then once more both times receiving a similar response. Don't get me wrong, you guys got back to me quick and told me what the problem was, it just seems that the delay is just dragging out more and more.

We have got the machine now its just a matter of us loading the VPS software onto it so everything will be up and running today. I do apologise but unfrotunatly its just one of those times when things seem to conspire against us.

I believe once you get your VPS up and running you will be very happy, Rus and the crew are great, they know their stuff with VPS, linux, MySql, Apache, Cpanel, MMCache, DNS and all things in between. They have saved my bacon, a few times and really go out of their way to help out.

After doing my homework on them (using the almighty search function of this site :D and looking through the vpscolo and jvds forums) i came to the conclusion that they were the company to go with as i understand the network and servers are top quality, but also the support is good.
Anyway i'll be looking forward to the email that lets me know when it's all happening.

Thanks ;)

Mick.

And just let it be known that Rus is SUPPOSED to be on holiday (or vacation depending where you're from) but as is usual for the vpscolo team he takes the time to address an issue speedily for his customers, even though he's not supposed to be working! Kudos Rus!

I have to agree with others, a long wait yes, especially if your impatient like me, but Rus and team will get you going and you'll find it worth the wait

Hi, I'm new here. Just wanted to chime in here. After an exaustive search of these forums for a new host (I'll explain in great detail why I'm looking for a new host someday Im' sure) I decided on VPScolo. It seems they have a pretty good reputation in these forums, and I'm sure a made a wise decision. I am however a little uneasy with the 48hr wait for my account information. I was not emailed about any backlog, but was notified this morning that my account would be set up today. I put in a 9hr day at work and still no account. After reading this thread I understand why it's taking so long, however it doesnt help my current situation too much as I'm in dire need of getting my site back up on the new host. I hope I can begin work on it tonight. Thanks to everyone who posts on this forum, it's a great resource and I'm very happy to have found it.

Yikes, still waiting. Will probably have to wait for the 72 hr mark now. :(

You may have to wait if the backlog is large. Rus and his crew never sleep, so it will happen sooner than later.

I have had a vps with vpscolo before and will have more in the future. You cant go wrong with them, they are quite possibly the best vps company to deal with.

BTW they have a support forum for questions and concerns. You might want to try a post there next time? ;)

Yeah i've had a look through those forums when i was doing my research on the company. I just want to start using the service, i've been waiting for 4 days now. Still nothing, but when it happens i sure will be happy! :D

"...so it will happen sooner than later."

Well after paying for 6 months of service, I was kind of hoping for the "sooner" rather then the "later". I have a website that's in dire need of this new server, so this "backlog" is kind of really bad timing for me at this point in time.

OK everyone should now be pretty much setup. If there is anything else please email support@vpscolo.com. I've got a plane to go and catch...

Good news! My account got setup and i've started setting it up and such, all i can say is great network, nice and fast. I did come across one problem connecting to DA (the fault was nothing from VPSColo, just something that happened) i sent them an email and got one back very promptly and the problem was resolved straight away.

I knew this service would be great and all i can say so far is it was worth the wait! :)

How is their technical support? Or is it just the new account setup that takes time?

thanks,

We generally put existng tech support queries over new server builds but most will be built with 24 hours of payment

Ok, I ordered with them based on the many recommendations.

However, if I ever have a problem I hope support is faster than the setup or acknowledgment. Glad I did'nt sign for longer than 3 months. You never know....

As I said before setup is done after any support enquiers and normally only during business hours

fair enough. Here's some constructive criticism: as soon as the payment is received, send an automated e-mail saying that we received your order and it will be setup in the next xx hours.

At least people have an idea of the timeline. Right now if it wasn't for Paypal, I wouldn't even know if the order was received or not.
