To be honest It will be Extremely hard to get into the top google rankings for keyword "photoshop tutorials"..

There are so many sites that are already established and have tons and tons of tutorials.

That market is very competitive so your chances are slim to nill....

Even if you had near perfect search engine optimization..

Anyways, back to the topic..

Try Website Publisher.net (http://www.websitepublisher.net/website_promotion/search_engine_optimization/)

They have some good tutorials.. I know the owner has made a significant amount of money off of SEO and other methods related to website publishing etc...

Ya as Carro mentioned it will be extremely hard to get top rankings for that keyword phrase as it is already so competitive. Not only will you need to seo your site but you will also need a huge amount of backlinks to get you anywhere near the top. :-)

the only thing you can do is try some seo, create a lot of content and support your community in hope that it will become popular through word of mouth and links. then eventually your site will rise in ranks due to popularity and links.

cheers.

Probably worth considering targeting other niche phrases. A crucial part of "seo" often is identifying keyword phrases that strike a balance: that aren't overly competitive but that still get searched enough that they'll bring traffic.

The thing with "photoshop tutorials" is that both words are very common and very competitive. Put them together and you're competing with all kinds of huge sites.

Of course that doesn't mean it can't be done, but it certainly would be a lot of work.

it would be alot of work, but 1.4million isn't too bad.

get alot of good content & get alot of good links with 'photoshop tutorials' appearing in the anchor text.

keyword selection; refine them.

adobe photoshop tutorials - 855k
free photoshop tutorials - 1million
photoshop 7 tutorials - 880k

etc, you get more targeted and will find it easier to achieve a high ranking if you aim for multiple terms through-out your site.

I disagree!

Yes, it won't be easy. But it's not extremely hard. It's not 'web hosting' or 'web design' where people get many thousadns (or even millions of income) and ready to pay good money for better placements (buying links, hiring expensive SEOs etc.).

So I'd say, that it's possible, but will require lots of work and additional investments.

But don't give up!

check PromotionWorld at the domain with the same name.

they have great free tools for you to track your SEO effort and progress.

I like their "Keyword Ranking Monitor" the best. It will tell your position in Google for mutiple keywords. The generation of the keywords is not an easy task by itself and they have a tool for this as well. I was able to create a list of 135 most relevant keywords and check my position in Google for them all within 10 minutes.

Other tools will provide you with back links, PR rank etc.

Great tools and they are all free.
