Hello,

It seems as if I need advice.

My current provider is Esosoft ( esosoft.net or esosoft.com )

I have their virtual server A service.

I like them but their support really is starting to stink.
My server is down and has been down for 24 hrs,
it took an email to their manager on duty to get a responseand they've got no reason why my server is down.

Should I look for a new host?
If so any recommendations based on my current provider??

Thanks Cheryl

24 hours is too long for a server to be down without any known reason IMO.
Have they said when they will address this issue?

You should probably begin the search for a new host.
I haven't heard of your current host. And yet, I'm assuming they're fairly large.

According to the email I got - they have a system administrator looking into the problem and its top priority.

Again if anyone wants to give recommendations, those would be appreciated as well.

24 hours is way too long for a server to be down maybe the network itsefl drop and went to sleep --most system admin will not have a answer for you real fast if they are managing alot of server at once ---

yeah. so far I'm thinking of moving to apollohosting.

I'm concerned about bandwidth, should I be?

I don't get that many hits
my biggest month in 2000 was 14226125 KB and 847339 hits

Thanks Cheryl

Nothing ticks me off more than a hosting company who is down for large periods of time >4-5 hours and gives their customers no reason for the downtime.

The best thing any host can do after downtime is admit to the problem........."Dear Customer, we have been experiencing downtime in our NOC due to _________. Please accept our appology and contact Customer Service if you have any questions or comments."

Not run away from the issue and hope everything will be fine. People will leave, like you have as we can see. Responding to the problem makes the customer say "My site was down, but at least they filled me in as to why there was a problem"

Remember, the internet is NOT perfect.

Just me opinion :)

FYI, Esosoft, like MANY other outfits, uses Verio for their virtual servers. Just look for "data centers in Frankfurt, London, San Jose..." and you've got a Verio sales outfit. Esosoft's HOSTING is very good and their uptime is nearly 100% as far as I can tell. I haven't tried their dedicated servers which are also on-site.

Personally - I have had Excellent results with Verio's (through Esosoft) virtual servers staying up. However, when they HAVE gone down, Esosoft was unresponsive - and why not? They're not the ones who work with 'em!

End result, I still recommend Esosoft for hosting, but I do not recommend 'em for virtual servers, and my own sites are moving to a dediated server at rackfast, thanks to the advice I've gotten here.

It's unacceptable for a webhosting company to have a customer down for 24hrs without a proper explanation and they better start looking to compensate you or else.

You better start looking for an alternative....

Good luck:bawling:
