Hi All,

I'm searching the best price/features/support for Windows 2000 dedicated server (don't ask mew why Windows ;).
Do you have some information about http://www.dantor.com ?
They answered immediately to my questions, they prices are good for me, but I can't find information for them from another source...

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I visisted their homepage and I think their dedicated server deal is one of the cheapest. The reason is because they offer Windows OS which usually cost much more than linux-based OS. Also their dedicated server deal offer the cheapest bandwith you can buy (though you may have to buy it in 50GB/month blcok). But hey... at $1/GB/month, where else can you get this deal except it you have your lease your own T1 (which comes out about $1.6/GB/mo) or T3 (about $1/GB/mo).

I am not sure about their NOC connecticity. Did you ask them about this whether they have T1, T3, or probably OC3 and higher? If they can offer bandwith with only $1/mo, then their connecticity may be high (at least T3).

Another thing, I also look at the colocation deal (unfortunately the bandwith charge is higher than that of dedicated server deal, but I have contacted them and try to negotiate about this). Their service seems to be really good. They include the first 30 days of customer support free of charge and they also do 24x7 monitoring.

One last thing, they do not require any contract! Their contract is month to month basis! This is another good thing about their service (like it so much).

But, why isn't there to many reviews/ talks/ complaints/ praises about this company? Anyway, I definitely will put dantor.com in my colocation-provider lists (follows by cheapservers.net and tera-byte.com).

So... this company may definitely worth your money! Keep us inform regarding your experience with the company!

cheers,

Thank you for the detailed response. Currently I'm evaluating http://www.ecui.com also.
I must choose between dantor.com and ecui.com. Some commebts about ecui.com ?
When ready with my decision, I will post the final results.

Best Regards!

Another "seems to be good deal" site!

Both dantor.com and ecui.com offers a very competitive price on dedicated servers! When you compare the two, it seems to me that ecui give you a better deal. BTW, both offer same OS (win 2000 Server).
For $220/mo + $200 setup, you get from dantor.com:
- 500 Mhz (what CPPU? AMD? Celeron?)
- 8GB+ HD (what? IDE? SCSI?)
- 64 MB Ram
- 35 GB traffic/mo
- $1/GB/mo extra in 50 GB increment
- NOC connected with dual DS3
- using 95th percentile? (I called the sales/tech support but forgot what they said).
- no contract

For $210/mo + $350 setup, you get from ECUI.com:
- PIII 733 Mhz
- 9.1 GB (IDE 7200rpm ATA/66)
- 128 MB Ram
- 100 GB traffic/mo
- $1.50/GB/mo extra in 50 GB increment (I talked to the sales and they said it is $1/GB/mo in 50GB incr. If this is true, then this is really.... cheap!)
- NOC connected with (at least) one OC3
- DOES not use 95th percentile. Traffic is metered on the swith port (whatever that means... somebody please explain).
- no contract

So... see for yourself.... ECUI seems to give you a much better deal. The included bandwith per month--100GB--which usually sold around $2-3/GB/mo will already worth the dedicated server (Assuming you need that much bandwith).

I like ECUI colocation deal also. With dantor.com, I will be charge $2.5/GB/mo (10 GB increment). With ECUI.com, I will be charged only $1/GB/mo (50 GB increment) :) But unlike dantor, ECUI do not let physicall access to the facility (why?). But.... who cares... I live in CT and they are in FL :)

Hey, thanks for your good info... Hope you can decide soon...

cheers,

Thank you for the response and sorry for the delay in this reply :( I was very busy these days.

I choosed ECUI becouse :
- better deal ;)
- it seems that they are very experienced guys (based on their answers and their support content)
- I found a discussion about them (at dejanews) there is a guy which has a dedicated server with them - he reccomends ecui.

I will order their dedicated server on jan or feb 2001 - now I'm working on the software (control panel, pagebuilder etc.)

When everything is ready, I will post a message.

Regards!

Traffic measured at switch port means they use managed switches on their network, and monitor the amount of traffic going through each port at a regular interval. If they measure 50Gb going through the port connected to your box, they charge you for 50Gb of bandwidth.

The 95th Percentile means that they measure your throughput on a regular basis. If you peak at 1Mb/s, they charge you for 0.95Mb/s...... I think.

Anyway, the first option is better.....

Almost right but no quite, actually with the 95% thhey throw out the top 5% and then bill you according to the highest traffic spike.

Hi, i'm vagsoft but now my nick is CRAVIS :D I have 1 dedicated server with ECUI and they are really great. 5/5 stars for uptime, support and speed. I'm planing to move all hosting customers to ECUI and I will buy additional 2-3 dedicated servers from them in near future. They are awesome and their prices are very reasonable for the service you get. Again... Highly recomended company!
