Hi all:
I'm new to this forum. I'm trying to get on McHost.com to look at their reseller program. I can get to the home page, but when I click on ANY link, I get a file download window popup.
I tried emailing Marc (twice) but got no reply. I wonder if anyone can go to the site and see if they have the same problem. I can't see how it could be a problem on my computer. The problem only occurs on McHost.
I also have to wonder about support response times if I can't get a response from Marc BEFORE I sign up...
Thanks for your help.

No problems in IE 5.5. Response times can vary, of course it's not just marc doing support tickets and such vs. his e-mail account which I'm guessing gets fairly filled up with people asking questions.
Two days ago I sent an email to info@, and today I sent one to marc@. Didn't get a reply from either one.
You said no problem in IE5.5. You mean you were able to follow the links from his home page? Geesh...I wonder why I can't...

I can access their web site fine using IE 5.1 and Netscape 6.2. No problems at all. Could this be an issue with your installation of IE?
This is really bizarre. I have IE 6.0. The wierd thing is I was able to access mcHost's entire site on Tuesday, not on Wednesday, was able to again on Thursday, but not today. How can that be???
At least if I got an answer to my emails, I could sign up...
I should re-iterate : I have NO problem getting the home page. It's when I click on any link that I have the problem.

The links work fine for me with IE 6.

I don't think anyone else is having problems accessing it, so there must be a problem with your PC or browser version. Have you tried cleaning out your cache? Just for your information, i get close to 200 emails per day (excluding spam!) on my personal marc@mchost.com email address, sometimes i feel that there should be Marc1 and Marc2 and i honestly do my best to answer them all as soon as possible.
Also, info@mchost.com does not exist and the fastest way to contact us is either the helpdesk or at sales@mchost.com :)

Actually I sometimes get this problem although I've never been able to confirm what causes it...
It's intermittant, happening approximately once every 8 or 9 days (on average). No matter how many times I refresh it'll still take me to a download prompt.
Do the same link using a different browser and it works fine...
All very weird... I will say that it's usually down to I.E. 6... Never known it to happen to any others but I suspect it's a cross between a Cache issue, headers and IE6.0.
Only way I've know to cure it is to reboot... Weird but true..
Marc:
It's gotta be my IE 6.0 because I just tried it in Netscape 4 and Netscape 6 and it works. Hmmm, I even tried re-booting and IE still won't co-operate. Maybe I'll take your advice and clean out my cache and try it again.
The only reason why I tried marc@ and info@ is because I could not get access to the Support link on your site in IE, and didn't know which email address to use. I appreciate that you get lots of emails. I was just getting frustrated...
I'll have a look in Netscape and see about signing up with you.
Well, clearing the cache didn't work, but I got in with NS6. I've signed up with McHost, and look forward to working with them.
Thanks for your help, everyone. Great forum. Glad I found it.
