We use @Work as our upstream provider. We have been with them for 1 year, and have not experienced any real problems. We are not web designers, nor do we want to be. We could have used FrontPage or Dreamweaver and made a much better site, but we really aren't interested in it.

We actually thought that "lame" web page was funny, and interesting. Go figure. ;)

We have customers that are very happy with the service they are getting, and have been with us since the begining.

If you would like references, or web site addresses, I would be happy to provide them.

One of our customers actually recommended webhostingtalk to
us, and I decided I would try to post.

If you would like more information than this, please let us know.

Thanks,
Cololoco

Can we get some pictures of your facility, also how fast is the pipe you get from @work? is it asynchronous?

cbaker, must you insist on ruining my troll's? DAMN YOU! hehehe. Well i guess you confirmed what i had thought :) (@work being the 'business cable' division of @home, i'd heard it elsewhere before). I still want to see pictures of this facility, and overage charges... i wonder if @home knows what he's doing with all that space under his desk ^_^

they've been with you for 3 weeks so far? That looks like the begining to me.

Boy what a tough crowd, you people are ruthless. :d

Anyway, the domain name cololoco.com has only been registered a few weeks, when we decided to use that name for the $50/month special.

As I said, I'll be glad to give references. In the meantime, here are a couple of websites hosted at our facility:

www.sharryxoxo.com
www.bubbajackson.com
www.boucherbuilding.com
www.sololaptops.com

It seems also that @work (or @home) gets some bad press here. Now their "broadband" access has gone down the tubes. Their @work division is still providing dedicated connecticvity solutions to their customers.

I'm not gonna BS anyone here and claim we have 100MBps connections, redundant OC3's, blah blah blah.. We have a dedicated T1 connected to @works redundant 2.5MBps fiber backbone.

We have a small facility in Connecticut with several servers running hundreds of websites. We have APC 3000VA rackmount UPS's. Our customers are very happy with us. I'd be glad to give references to any serious inquiries.

We are not using anywhere near the amount of bandwidth we have available. and so are offering this colocation special on webhostingtalk.com.

If you're interested, check out the above sites (they're much better than ours:)), then ask us for references. It's a great deal.

Oh, and BTW, it's reall hard to fit all that stuff under my desk ;)

Thanks,

cololoco

Haha, those are lots of good replies, but if you really want to be taken seriously, you need to do something about that webpage. I suggest you read up on the "digiblockshosting" posts if you wanta see what'll happen if you don't. (he's got a much better website, but the spelling abilities of a 10 year old).

Some of you have been really trashing us. Like I said, tough crowd. The reality is we run our own facility, no it's not big, but it works and works well.

We own it, we manage it, and our customers love it.

Go ahead, look up our IP's. You'll see they are in fact registered to us in Connecticut. They have been since early 2001, as I said in an earlier post.

Now some of you bashers, who claim to have carrier grade colo's, you don't have your own datacenters, you lease space. Your IP's aren't even registered to you. You rent it and resell it.

So can you be a little more tolerant of us little guys who do. We aren't going around bashing you for not running or managing your own DC.

Thanks,

cololoco

Finally, some constructive criticism. Point taken. we'll get right on it.

Obviously we're not marketing guys, I actually thought it was kinda cool :), and so easy!!

LOL

Thanks for a worthwhile reply. I might suck at web design, but at least I can spell. ;)

Thanks,

First off, Welcome to WHT colo-loco.

I agree w/ you WHT members are a tough crowd :D, it took me well over 11 months ( that is almost a year) to post my 1st advert. here and only have 2 post advertising our company.

Anywho, just keep those machines up and running + a good support response time and all is well...

cheers m8.

It may be even worthwhile to withdraw this offer now. And start it up again after you create a cleaner site.
Your site's cool and funny. But I don't think people want cool and funny when they're looking for a colocation provider.
I know I don't. It won't matter what connections or facility you have; an unprofessional web site makes you look . . . . . . unprofessional. :)
And people want professional in their providers . . . . . . . Not funny.

They seem fair and resonable excuses - but if you've got 'bandwidth to spare' - why not just post in the Offers and Requests forum - Ask someone to design you a professional looking site - in exchange for hosting. That sort of thing seems to go down fairly well. :)

Heh, for the record, you'll find this to be a little more then just "a tough crowd". If you read some of the posts around as many of us have been doing, theres almost every scam in the book attempted on these message boards. Frankly from the look of your site and with you advertising "@work" bandwidth, the first thought that came to my mind was "great, some dork wants to host boxes on his cable modem (because @work did (does?) service home cable connections which is identical to @home but has a higher monthly fee) and will likely go out of busines in a few months and never return the hardware.

You will likely find this to be one of the most educated crowds around. And i don't know about anyone else, but i didn't even look at your webpage when i commented on your offer, i looked at your uplink. @Home has burnt a LOT of bridges throughout the ages as any large company has, but they've earned themselves a ... bad reputation over the years in my books, and many others.

So basically it's all cololoco's fault for not anticipating every question that was going to be asked? He must be really dumb to post an Ad in the ads forum, and have people start ridiculing him and making presuppositions about his service without first giving him a chance to answer real questions without being laughed at.

He is obviously a scam isnt he? Its also his fault that many of us make conclusions without asking for further info is it not.... And even if he isn't a scam, we are not wrong in making presumptions because his web page sucks... so it is still his fault.

This is so cool. What else is the advertising forum for? I am sure this is certainly going to encourage more web hosts to advertise here. What a nice reception to a new user.

allending, if a new advertiser, with no reputation, comes along offering dirt-cheap prices, has a webpage that my 7yo daughter could design in a more professional way, and provides no company, connectivity or other details (either here on on their website) - then I for one am going to be sceptical.

Now that cololoco has answered a few of the questions then people may feel a little better. But as a new advertiser I'd expect them to do a little research, and provide relevant information - rather than letting people jump to conclusions.

But he’s certainly created a bit of a splash – and advertising is all about generating publicity for your company. :)

Indeed a very rough reception for a newbie, harsh crowd. But he has posted with all the relavent info about his offer and cleared up any suspicions everyonemay have had. Im sure he also knows that with a T-1 he cant have more than 10-12 clients on his 30gig for $50 deal. Theres not a bad crowd here at all and I hope thats not the impression you got, they have just heard one too many scams and have their finger on the trigger waiting for the next one. Welcome to WHT :)

Greg

Lol, I dont want to get into any  wars. But you said it yourself, not that he has answered some questions, are we not in a better position to evaluate his services? That doesn't make ridiculing him BEFORE asking any questions any more right.

Yes his webpage gives a pretty bad impression. But instead of shouting Scam right away, how hard is it to wait for a reply from him?? And if you judge a host by the prettiness and how nice a website is dressed up, well I guess the phrase dont judge a book by it's cover comes to my mind. No wonder all the ugly guys an't find gals...

I can tell you this. His website may not be professional... but the attitude he has shown is a lot more professional that some of the posters in this thread, some of which surprise me with their arrogance and rudeness even though they are supposed to be succesful hosts.... Just read the thread and try to tell me there was nothing uncalled for..

cololoco, if you are in a rush, and are drawing blanks, you could try a site like guistuff.com to get ideas on a layout/design for your site, and go from there. Always remember KISS keepitsimplestupid
