I just noticed that asp.net version is finally out. Anyone started offering this for your hosting clients already? What's your take on this, I would be interested in knowing.

Sure it is interesting - and I think it's far more powerful and much cooler than plain ASP, however I think one need to look at it from a practical view

1. The product has just been released

2. I am pretty sure as with any MS product it will take two service packs before the product is good enough to be used in production systems. This has been the case wwith almost all their major products ever since NT 4.0.

3. A little more on the second point: Especially since it naturally is going to be used in an Internet environment, I would be really careful. I mean MS have had big problems with security leaks in IIS and the ASP engine ( which is pretty much a sandbox, remember ) today. How should they be able to control it with .NET which is not an sandbox anymore but instead gives the developers options to do pretty much anything.

So yet I think .NET will rule the world - cause from the developers view it simply rocks , but I think it will be a while. I am pretty sure there will popup a lot of hosting companies screaming "We support .NET" however my company will lay low until it has been really tested.
