Thanks C wheimeng 09-22-2004, 09:07 AM Why do you want to go with a VPS reseller? Doesn't make sense though rooioog 09-22-2004, 09:14 AM Whoops, that didn't come out right, meant VPS hosts offering reseller accounts. I am basicly looking after a VPS host that I can sign up as a reseller with. I'd so much rather be a normal server reseller. At least I can get my facts from 1 source instead of when the server goes down, you'd be looking at who did it and etc. It's all up to you tho. If you're still looking for that, you might want to look at the reseller forum. They might have answers for you there. If there's anything I can help with, do msg me... take care. If you have AIM, my SN is aodat2. Chat with me there, if I'm online. Take care... wheimeng 09-22-2004, 09:44 AM Any particular reason you are looking for reseller hosting on VPS? VPS is basically shared and you would like to share the shared resources? :P Tier-2... rooioog 09-22-2004, 09:53 AM Hi aodat2, I am really after a FreeBSD VPS for myself (I am a sysadmin by trade). This is to host a mail server, nameserver, and function as a backup box, mirror a few sites, run some monitoring, etc. Things that a) web hosting companies don't cater for and b) I wouldn't want anyone else do for me. The reason I'm after a reseller account is mainly so I can sell off accounts to cover my own costs. C BobFarmer 09-22-2004, 11:50 AM At first I thought I was clear on what you were asking--that you wanted to be able to resell the VPS company's products, receiving a discount which gives you a revenue stream, or some form of incentive payment to cover your costs. However your posts are ambiguous enough to me that you may be wondering if you can resell regular webhosting accounts within a VPS or on a VPS server. Here's the simple answer: any VPS with root privs, preferably with the aid of a control panel such as cPanel/WHM or DirectAdmin can be treated just like a dedicated server when it comes to creating reseller packages. You could get a VPS for your needs and resell space to others. Most VPS companies probably have reseller programs as well, where you receive a discount based on volume thus enabling you to resell their products without being at a price disadvantage, giving you an income stream. We have such a program (but no FreeBSD based VPS), so I can assume the other key players in the market do as well. Send emails to sales@ the various VPS companies, you'll probably find what you're looking for. aodat2 09-22-2004, 12:52 PM Originally posted by rooioog Hi aodat2, I am really after a FreeBSD VPS for myself (I am a sysadmin by trade). C OK, Let me get you correctly... you're telling me that certain hosting companies that do sell reseller accounts do not cater to your needs such as mail server, nameserver, mirroring and etc? If that's what you're telling me, then I could tell you for a fact that you're absolutely WRONG as there are companies out there who would have you on their server and will allow such things. I don't see what's wrong if it's a reseller account. I used to have 2 reseller accounts running at the same time (different companies) and both mirroring each other. Made as a precaution (more or less like what you're wanting). They know about what I'm doing and said nothing about it. I wonder why would other hosting companies not want it... I know for a fact that our company will accomodate your needs, if not others too. |
