How is traffic being measured (95% or average or otherwise)

How much is per GB Traffic over

From your AUP it seems adult content is permitted?

Contract or month to month on the $7/month plan?

Another question....since it says unlimited domains, is this a reseller package?

jmr
01-18-2002, 12:33 PM
Adult , Warez, Bots, IRC are NOT permitted with any of our packages. Sorry!

The packages do require that you sign a contract although can be cancelled if you wish to do so - but we dont get cancellations!

The packages allow you to point domains to your own space but you cannot resell this.

We do offer a affiliate scheme though and will be offering reseller packages later in the year.

Overage on bandwidth is $1.50/gb per month

Forgot about this question bandwidth is measured on total bytes in/out

Any more questions then please dont hesitate to ask!

You can assign as many users to your account and each will have their own ftp account.

Anon ftp is a facility we can offer but you will have to pay extra for this and is not a part of this offer. Sorry!

You can have this facility for an extra $30 per year (sorry forgot to post the price)

You can easily create users through your control panel though!

Vex

How much extra? Yearly price please.

$7 for 25 GB of bandwidth? That's sure a lot of bandwidth for the money. Anyway, what's wrong with IRC? Just wondering...

We have been in business for three years now mainly concentrating on the UK and Europe markets.

As part of a marketing campaign started today we are having a big drive on not only the UK market but also the US market too.

We have done our research and are able to offer packages such as these available as a special offer for approx 1 month. The price will remain the same and we are not about to disappear into the sunset.

As this offer closes we will have already have determinded which the next one will be and what features it will have.

After a great deal of time we realised that as the market changed the companies that have been charging outragous amounts for their hosting are disappearing and going bust.

As our slogan states we offer Affordable Hosting, design and new media.

Hope this satisfies everyones doubts?!

I have another question.

Does this come with software that allows guests to create web pages on the users site from a sign up form, and manage their site they make on a web based manager?

jmr
01-18-2002, 03:03 PM
No it doesnt!.......we can advise you of such systems and help you install them if you wish to have them.

GT Filemanager is installed but is for main user only.

There are some great virtual community scripts out there....most of them cost though :)

A great one that works on the server is phpwebhost which is a part of phpgroupware which is available freely from sourceforge

We will help you install any script free of charge - but we dont debug or write them for free :) As long as the script is written properly then we will help you install without any charge.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the opportunity :) I have a few questions--I just got dinged by 8Host and I'm leery:bawling: ..hope you understand.

Is Telnet/SSH operational and available?
How many MySQL databases?
Any limit on connections?
Can they be created and managed in the CP?
What can be done in the CP?
The screenshot is too small to read the features..sorry :)
Your TOS AUP link is dead, I'd like to read it please.

I think that's it for now! Thanks!

Vex

Thanks for the nice offer!

BTW, are you a RackShack reseller? It's just that a traceroute/whois to your site always ended up in RackShack. If so, what kind of Control Panel do you provide? Ensim/Plesk?

Your domain was registered just 4 months ago, what domain did you use for the previous 3 years?

After a great deal of time we realised that as the market changed the companies that have been charging outragous amounts for their hosting are disappearing and going bust.

And you're not going to go bust offering 25 gigs of bandwidth for $7? Let's see, you have a Rackshack server w/ 300 gigs of BW and let's say you're paying the minimum of $99/month. Now at 25 gigs per account, you'll get 12 accounts on your server bring in $84/month. Now I'm sure you'll oversell the server but let's get reasonable here.

jmr
01-19-2002, 04:53 AM
At present we only offer servers with the cobalt panel only. Although we will also be obtaining ensimn servers from Rackshack.

We also dont only use rackshack and we have made a deal with them which we obviously will not reveal here - This is how we can do this

As stated we have been in business for 3 years

Original domain was o2k.co.uk
We merged with company jmr hosting and formed jmr internet services

Main jmr url is www.jmr-hosting.uk.com and jmr-hosting.net which we use for UK and Europe market

At this time we do not offer a reseller package. We will though later in the year

mysql is done at request to support and you can as many databases as you wish.

Does this cover everyones questions?

Ahhh.... I stand corrected IF you have one of those few 10mb servers they had awhile back then I can see it's possible. Other than that, RS doesn't make deals... which I won't argue about because there's no way either of us could prove who's right :D

How many telnet accounts? Can we make them for our clients?

jmr
01-19-2002, 02:40 PM
we prefer that you use ssh as its more secure.

the answer to your question is yes you can create users for your site and you can assign if they can have telnet access or not.

What is the rate after 2 years? Also you mentioned about getting Ensim servers from Rackshack, will this be before Feb. 1 and be included in this special? Also, what is your uptime percentage?

jmr
01-19-2002, 03:42 PM
sorry ensim will not be a part of this offer.

price after two years is difficult to predict as it depends on our current overheads etc

hopefully there will be no increase at all :)

we would NOT increase it more than 30% no matter what our overheads are.

uptime 99.5 %

Ugh, I was going to sign up soon and it said that I couldn't because I should've signed up early. I thought you said it ended in the end of February?

jmr
01-20-2002, 07:01 PM
Sorry about that.

We cannot oversell the servers it would put all clients at risk!......when would you like to sign up? we can let you know when this will be available again.

We have been swamped with 8host clients due to them stopping their service. Quite unexpected.

We apologise to all those that was intending to sign up. If you wish to email us then we can let you know in advance the next offer so you have first choice.

I would've liked to signed up at the end of Feb., but it's not really needed until October. That is when my new host goes out. But if there is one sooner I'd be happy to look at what it is. I just hope it is as good or if not better next time.

jmr

Once again we apologise for having to close the offer early.

We will note all of you that are still interested and contact you within the next month (so by the end of Feb)

honest opinion. You pay for what you get. I'm one of the lucky ones or maybe unlucky ones that sign up before it closed. I find that the support is very good and friendly.
But uptime?? 99.5%?? I can't say much as I only been with them since Saturday but the site was down Saturday evening and is currently down right now, Monday evening. Like I said you pay for what you get and at $7 a pop. That's not bad at all. And support is good though.

There have been a LOT of posts with good hosting offers of less than $10/month that have been receiving some good feedback as to regards to uptime and support, but most of these offers show responsible offers... ie. offers that won't put them out of business in 6 months or less. The unreasonable amount of bandwidth offered for $7 is what attracted a lot of peoples attention.... but you're experiencing already in less than a week what happens when something is too good to be true.

Yes I just checked and still down. It's a Rackshack server but it's definately not a Rackshack problem. jmr's server is up and running as far as respoding to pings but apparantly apache is down looks like?

Well I sent them an e-mail and see what happens. Usually e-mail response from them is pretty good and they do try to help you out. Still haven't gotten a response back yet on why it's down.
When the server is up, it's pretty good. Like I said, you expect what you pay for. LOL. Which is probably why I'm not pissed just annoyed. If I was paying alot more than $7 than I be screaming mad right about now.

jmr

Thanks for your positive feedback and i fully understand. We have had some problems over the past two days and it is not due to us offering accounts that we cannot fulfull.

This is the first such problem we have had with rackshack servers and as soon as we get to the bottom of it the clients affected will be informed of. If they wish a full refund they will get one.

By the way CP we did not get any emails from you.
