Is there a reason why can't use private messaging, or is it a bug on the system?

Are you referring to the WHT forums? If so, it is because you do not have a sufficient post count.

Also - this is the wrong forum for those kind of questions.

It is not a bug in the system. You are in the wrong forum for posting this.

To answer your question. You need 5 or 10(can't remember which) posts before you can PM. You would have been aware of this fact, had you read the rules located here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/misc.php?s=&action=forum-rules

I suggest you review the rules before continuing and that you ignore any spelling mistakes I am making... :D

Anyone know how many PMs we can save in total?
I thought it was 100 but I have over 100 at the minute.

Thanks
John

Thanks Dennis :)
Always wondered what it was, always tried to keep it under 100 as I thought that was the limit.

There're more than one reason for keeping PMs stored online. It can be helpful to understand the context of the newly received PMs and they might contain information that's required at times..and so on.

Oh, I just dont discuss anything via PM hence the different outlook on them.

That's the main reason, when I have something that I will need for future reference then I keep it saved.

Every few months I go through it and clear out almost everything that I don't need.

It's already in the rules which is located conveniently on the top of the forum.

Also as a reminder, this forum doesn't take it kindly to members who post (eg.Wee, my 5th post!) just to get their post count up in order to post links and use private messaging.

I didn't notice the PM rule at first either ... it's a rather odd rule but I guess since this is such a high volume forum and they want nothing but quality members, it makes sense.
