Ok,

i would like to know your solutions (hardware, software) to prevent disasters for your business if for some reason (hard or soft) one of your server with hundred of clients go down.

FYI i'm using Plesk and my server are in a web farm far from my location.

Please give me your opinion

Agreed, unfortunately, most people don't look to get backups, until they've experienced first hand, a reply from tech support stating, we apologize, but your HD won't boot. Backups, multiple hosting locations with rapid DNS changes, mirroring sites, there are any number of possibilities, it just depends how intricate you wish to get. Typically, a daily update of all incremental changes, weekly full backups, (all off-site) and on-server RAID can help immensely. If you need 100% uptime though, then it can get a bit more tricky. Having a recovery plan though, in place, *tested* and with multiple staff or people who can orchestrate it, are generally good enough for most clients, just let them know as things are happening.

I have invented a patent pending process that allows in-machine backup and restore of images.

My claims are

1.) You are delivered a server with it's own, original image placed on it. You may restore to the original image by your self and remotely at any time. Process takes 5 minutes. No more TT to restore your machine. Do it at your Whim!

2.) You may cut a clean image that will be compressed to a backup Disk for a restore in any point in time. Again, cut as many images as you like! I recommend once the backup is cut to move this to off machine storage.

3.) The really good part. Simple migration from one server to another using the restore from image and OS Repair. No more rebuilding site for site.

See 'yall in the Bahama's baby, I'm on my way!

Backup server daily to onsite and offsite. That way your data is save even if Hurricane blows the DC away.

You could also look into distributed load balacning across multiple location, but that would mean $$$

I've used rsync to back up important files. After the initial download it doesn't cost much bandwidth as it only backups the files that have been added or changed.
