Hi,

I signed up with harbor-net.com for credit card merchant account package. This is what I got

* 2.25% + 20 cents processing fee/transaction
* $10.00 Monthly service fee
* $349.00 - one time purchase of Virtual Terminal (Rep. said it includes WebLink)

Rep. also said there are no other hidden fees. Is this a good decent deal? What should I watch for?

I sell membership on my site and I want to be able to redirect users to authorize.net for credit card payment and then return back to my site with transaction number posted back.

Please comment with your experiences.

Thanks,
spartner

Wow, $349 setup fee?!?!

The provider I signed, gave me instant approval, no setup fee, no paperwork. Yet, rates still lowest :D

If you want to talk about it and see if you can get better deal.

Have a nice day

We tried to sign up with harbor-net originally... NOT recommended. They were taking extremely long to respond to emails, difficult to get ahold of, etc. Also- they promised us an account with cybercash but did not deliver- they gave us another gateway instead. When we let them know this wouldn't be acceptable, and they promised us a refund... still haven't received it :(.

File a report with BBB then you can get a answer, I bet

Hello,

We went through harbor-net.com for our merchant account. I guess they're all right. They offered to give us recurring billing for around $200 -- it ended up coming with the gateway for free (it's a good thing we decided not to go with their offer). Actually, there are more fees involved. Harbor-net.com deals with Humboldt Bank and the Innuity.com payment gateway. After the first 6 months of service, Innuity starts to charge a monthly fee for using their gateway. I found the process very confusing at first. Harbor-net acted as a third party and disappeared from the scene once they passed the information on to Humboldt Bank and Innuity. I personally think a little more communication would have helped.

I did try signup, didint like it. Rate is little higher than my new current merchant, also they charge setup fee, my merchant doesn't.

My 2 cent:)

ok.......thanks for all your responses. This is the summary of my experience with harbor-net.com/Merchant Commerce......

First of all this is what I paid

* $349.00 buyout of Virtual Terminal (so no monthly fees etc.)
* $10.00/month statement fee
* Visa/MC = 2.25% + 0.20
* Discover = 2.45% + 0.08 + $50.00 setup (call Discover direct)
* American Express = $5.00 flat fee/month (call AMEX direct)

harbor-net.com acts like a broker and opens Merchant account on Hamboldt Bank and sets up Authorize.Net for payment gateway.

Once this is done, I call up Discover and AMEX directly and they create merchant Ids. Then call up Hamboldt bank and ask them to assign the Ids with Authorize.net.

That's it! Overall the process was quite smooth. My sales rep was Amenda was very helpful answering all my questions on their 800 number.

I was debating about lease v/s buyout of Virtual Terminal and ended up buying as it's much cheaper.

Cheers,
