I had some mail recently about servus.ws being sold to exa-bytes. Now I don't mind the sale (except that we were not informed that he was selling until he sold) What I do mind was that my new plan had only a third of the bandwidth and less space :( Has anyone else had this problem? I am very annoyed .

but are you using 75% of that third bandwidth that your getting now , alot of people really need to look at there stats to see how data transfer there site is using i heard of site getting 10 gigs a month wow that alot of data passing thru --no if you have files that people can download like mp3 and program demo shareware etc. i can see hitting high on transfer .. my point is if your not using 75% of that bandwidth allowance i wouldnt worry about it , even the space most sites use only 5-10 mb in space unless your housing files on the server

Err... as far as I am aware if they have bought them lock stock they have to honour the contracts of the host they bought, which means they have to give you the same plan for the same price or less. Of course if you pay monthly then they can change your plan next time you are billing as long as they inform you of intent to do so.

Interesting, I do pay monthly and I got an email telling me about my new account and the new plan I was on had these specs:
100MB
2GB
50 pop accounts
10 ftp accounts
10 subdomains
$7.95
I couldn't remember my old plans specs (it was a custom plan) so I dug out some old emails and this was it (the difference isn't as bad as I first thought, but its the bandwidth that is the biggest alteration):
100MB
6GB
20 pop accounts
20 ftp accounts
10 subdomains
$8.95
And that was with servus.

So true, there is an upside and downside with everything. On one hand you risk getting stuck for X months even if the service is bad, on the other side you risk what just happened to greatgraddage. I guess this is the reality and all one can do is go for what you feel is right and cross your thumbs...

So, greatgraddage, I advice you to contact the new host and explain that while they technically are right, you expect the same plan otherwise you will change host.
