Ok,
who here is a domain reseller, and can you please advise me on some good reselling programs..
I was planning to use openSRS, but I wont be registering 20 domains per month....well not at first anyway...........
So anyone here using something similar to openSRS, basically, I want something where I dont have to sell any predefined number of domains each month...
thanks

Dotster's Instant Reseller scheme might suit - it's free to join and they charge $12 a domain. Might be a good stop-gap until you are able to get into openSRS (which is one of the best)... Anyway, it's at http://ir.dotster.com

Having said that, there aren't any requirements with OpenSRS, it's just a matter of being able to afford the $250 top ups :)

HostIT,
Can you please tell me more about the $250 top ups......

Well as far as I understand OpenSRS, you have to pre-pay $250 to sign up, which then is used as a credit for your first 25 domains (@ $10 each)

When you need to add more credit, you have to put a minimum $250 on again.

So basically, there's no requirement to sell X number of domains or anything, you just top it up when you like, with a minimum $250.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

In my opinion enom (http://enom.com) are the best of the bunch. Tried a few like Bulkregister that generally sucked so bad. Enom' service and support is excellent. Lowest plan is $450 (If I remember correctly) for 55 domains, working out at $8.95 per domain. Not the cheapest, no. But their Domain API software is awesome and so is the control panel you give your clients. Cheeck them out - www.enom.com

NexDog,
with Enom, do you have to keep the account always topped up at $450.........or can you just sell the 55 domains and then purchase more??

thanks..........

That's the beauty of it. Once you've paid the initial $450 you can just refill it as you wish. Let it go down to 50 bucks and top up with 10 every time you buy or whatever. :D

We're just reprogramming the base coding on our API to make it even faster. You can run the software as Perl or PHP and it's quite simple to set up. Their dns management system is fantastic, too. I can't recommend them highly enough. As with anything in this industry, pay a tiny bit more and you get the cream of the crop. It's about time hosts and webmasters clued up to that fact.

well when i first started out sellng domains i used domainpro.com which they was a sub company of domainbank ----no startup fees and the price is base on how many domains you sell or purchase (base on tiers) real great service no complaints will use them again if need be --enom offer me a plan for 450.00 startup which i was like wow i have to give u so much upfront and may not sell 55 domains is the first year which domain selling is not on the top of my list for selling -- openrs was not bad at all they wanted 250.00 in the pocket they call it again great service no complaints they are really well known with tucows

hope this helps

While Dotster is not cheap as HostIt said, they can really be great to start with.

I don't really run domain selling for profit, more of an extra service for my hosting customers and therefore price does not matter that much.

They allow customizable GUI which lets you use your own website style.

Now I am actually looking for something better = cheaper and Enom sure looks interesting.

ok, so with ENOM, you have to sell 55 domains within one year???? and what happens if you dont......

I'd email enom directly if you have a specific question, but I believe that you are just funding your account ($$$), not buying domain credits per se, as with some other registrars. After the initial funding, you can just add as you go (min $100 if I'm not mistaken), there's no, "Have to sell x domains/yr." or anything, but if you don't sell many domains per year, you may want to look into no start up reseller programs which might be better for lower volume. I mean there isn't much sense in paying money to a company and you not using this for domain purchases within a year.

The only financial change that Enom has made recently is added a penalty to accept credit cards for replentishing your account. They want you to make a wire transfer to they don't take the merchant fees in the rear-end, and so added a credit card fee.

Ask enom about a Registry Rocket account where you get billed $9.95 per domain.. I don't think it's necessary to pay $450 up front... they may have discontinued this deal though..

Hi, i use directi.com as a reseller.
.com/.net/.org domain names are just $6.95.
The minimum deposit is just $75 ; a good way to start!

Their service is great, too :)

Thnx
I found this site by accident, and didn't believe their prices, they were the cheapest i've seen

But using them now for 6 months, and i'm very happy with their prices and services.

inchaos.com

You'll be given the name "affiliate", which you actually are not, because you don't have to refer to their site.

You can be transparent and use and modify your own templates, so they will fit your site site's design. You even don't have to worry about the billing! No deposits..!

Check it out :)

I've been with dotster for a few months and it is pretty easy to use, also pretty cheap: no fees/deposits up front, and I pay $9/domain (HWG/IWA membership discount).

But their control panel interface is a bit buggy at times, and you are not notified if someone buys a domain. Your customer gets a notification from them, rather than allowing you to send a welcome letter! (which has me nervous)....

But it certainly seems to fit the bill (esp. once they debug their admin interface a bit more).

Any comparable programs?

Hmm, as I understand it, dotster's $12 reseller price includes the cc processing fee (if I'm not mistaken) whereas inchaos.com is chargind $11.95 plus 5% of the reseller's retail price for cc processing. Just pointing out that this would appear a more expensive option than dotster from what I can tell.

Looks like a nice redirection service though ;)

oh, I have another question :stickout

Those using directi.com do you have any inside word on when they will be offering resellers cc billing service?
