What are some good providers of merchant accounts?

Hm, well there are a few.

Since you are in California, you have a number of options. if you are processing more than $1,000 a month you might consider a merchant account. If it is going to be steadily under that, 2CO might be a better option

i've used 2co and been accepting paypal and the like for awile now but its time to move up to a merchant account now.

With domestic merchant accounts there are quite a few good considerations out there.

You do indeed have some great options. Your name does sound familiar but ... hard to keep track sometimes. :)

Being based in the U.S., you have lots of options.

A few general suggestions - if you will be processing lower amounts to start, getting a merchant account without a monthly minimum, annual fee or cancellation fee is always a plus.

If you think you will be processing larger amounts of sales volume, then you'll want to ask about and focus on things like downgrade fees and the specific ways that different processors classify them.

You will also want to ask about value-added services and find out how chargebacks are notified & handled, what kind of online reporting is providing and if any value-added services like fraud scrubbing, etc. are included.

And of course, ask away here in the forums on any questions that you have and all of us here will be happy to help.

I just got my merchant account setup today with CDG Commerce. I would definatly recommend them.
