Hey,

I have been working closely on getting a big client across the line. They want A site with all the bells and whistles etc. It’s their big bright new shinny online Adventure. The have had no experience running an enterprise site, they are just Expecting their customers to answer their own queries etc.

Anyhow upfront cash isn’t a problem, it’s just the ongoing monthly expenses, transaction fees - hosting fees - designing fees etc that there not happy with. I have provided options Like factoring that into the upfront cost on a yearly contract, different pricing models etc. But they’re still not happy.
:(
They have proposed a profit share partnership, the problem I have with this is that I am not 100 % confidant that their idea will work. I have done my own feasibility etc and it’s a big Risk. But high risk equals high returns.

Has anyone had any success with structuring a profit share deal? How much bending do you Usually have to do.?

Unfortunately I cants say what it, bound by confidentiality agreement.

Here are some questions to think about. If if were me and the answer is no to two or more questions, based on my past experience I would not do it.

Is the company incorporated?

Can they split the company into shares of stock so you are legally entitled to your share of the profit?

Do they have a sound business plan?

Do you like the product well enough to devote more hours of your time than you had expected to helping them become successful?

Do they have a budget for advertising?

Personally, this would be a big one for me. I really need to enjoy what I'm working on (like I do with hosting, most of the time), so a great idea would be a must for me. :)
