the theory behind the plan seems good. id play with a demo of the control panel and see what ya think. as for the host i cant comment on their reliability etc cos i dont have any experience, which i would count as being a major factor. id devote some time to researching their network and their reliability. no offense to the host intended whatsoever, but just cos the deal looks good dont mean the host is.
modular can be good if you arent going to use all the features, but if you arent then you can loose money. do some sums for difference scenarios.
and best of luck pm me if you want a chat :)

ok, first off id search this and similar forums for any mention.
second id read their site and see how good they say they are. what connections they have , server specs etc. then id go to www.tracert.org and ping em from various places and see a how fast they are, and b if they really do use level 3 or whoever or if they only have a piddling little oc3 and use cogent for 99% of traffic. im sure they prolly dont and i dont want to offend this host but im just doing the hypotheticals. ok next off find out who owns their ip on www.arin.net maybe they own their own. but try and find out where they are hosted, where do they colo then go see what that place is like on these boards. do they have a good \ bad rep. then try and geta free trial, chat to them, see what sorta people they are.
as for the prices etc, thats what god invented spreadsheets for, run plenty of proffit \ loss calculations , work out prices and returns etc. play with the figures and find what you want to offer, i.e. cheap host, epensive host.
then heres the important bit, see what the competition are up to see how much they offer for how much and see what features and quirks they have. im not recomending you copy and site designs of directly steal any features but learn from the guys that are already making money from it.
most most importantly get on their control panel before you buy, make sure it comes with a good manual and play, try as many common tasks as you can think of see how easy it is etc, its the part of your business your customers will see most. you dont want em staring at a dog ugly kiddies webpage thats most advanced feature is the clock at the top right :) your best friend is the search button top right :)
good luck mate , hard work and sensible preparation is the best thing to do.
so well put and so true! it is all too easy to fall prey to feature rich packages and low prices, but you've really gotta know who is behind the packages and I guess the two big things that people so often overlook are service and reliability.
i had a couple of sour dealings with various webhosts until i found that search button on the top right and it's all been great since! :)

Well I went on and bought the service from them and about and hour and a half later I'm cancelling.
The control panel is sooooooooo hard to understand. OMG!!!
I should have tried it more before ordering but the deal just looked too good to pass up.
Well I guess I will keep on searching.
Thanks guys.
