Some time ago I took two Windows 2000 Specials at NTIdesign with the horrific 'unmetered bandwith'. I have managed to pull two of my sites out of there to the brilliant GearHost where I now have a dedicated server. Problem is that I got one other domain www.lotrplaza.com for free as a packaged deal with the Windows 2000 Special and I have no idea how I can change the DNS info of that domain. I have tried to contact NTIdesign in any way possible, mailing, calling and I never seem to get hold of them.

Is anyone here still in contact with NTIdesign?
Is there any other way that I can change the DNS information for lotrplaza.com?
Is that domain legally mine or are they keeping it and can I only use it while I am with them?

Overall: :bawling:

According to whois Nexpoint Technologies Inc is registered as Registrant and Administrative Contact. This mean it's pretty implossible for you to to change it, technically speaking

You need to read up on your contract with NTIdesign

Philip,

Nice to see everything is going alright but as ASPCode pointed out I don't think your going to have any luck in getting that domain from them. Although if you did receive the domain free them maybe they shouldn't have a problem handing it over to you but then again I'm not sure how willing, if any, NTI will be.

yeah we have unmeetered but when your site starts doing 15 gigs of transfer in a matter of 5 days that IS affecting the performance of the server and you are going over your cpu % we allow you. Also.. you never did send a email into support or even submit a ticket. Usally people who do those get a much faster response then any other method. As far as ownership on the domain name.. I believe its yours but contact billing@ntidesign.com to get everything fixed...

Phillip:

We did enjoy hosting your web sites, however there were some majors changes to your site which made it quite difficult for us to continue.

With most fan/movie sites everything runs smooth until their site takes off, when it does it's over for the host. Just like in your case, your site went from 100-1000 hits a week to 7,000-10,000 hits a week. This is a considerable increase, especially when applications like MS Access backends are tied in. MS Access can kill a even a dual Intel server, as most other clients on the server noticed. In your sites case, both servers had about 150 sites on each which ~should~ be able to handle loads.

To put less strain on your future host, I would recommend using a SQL backend, it's just not as CPU-intensive. As most hosts on here will agree, MS Access was never made for the Internet.

We have been responding to your e-mails, however they were going to your e-mail account on our servers. This is mainly because your account was not cancelled before you changed hosts.

In the end, you can access your domain modifications at http://www.nexpoint.net/domains/modify.pl
as we've always said your domain is 100% yours.

If you have any future problems or need our assistance you can contact myself directly at tom@ntidesign.com. Please use an e-mail outside our network so our replies will be received.

On a side note -- I've seen the movie and surfed around your site quite. You've got a good thing going, congratulations!

I owe you guys at NTIdesign/Nexpoint a public apology as I did by phone last week. You were right about responding to the emails I sent you, all the responses were at your server and I was able to read them through webmail. Your replies were fast, to the point and right.

I also agree on what you said about the increase in traffic. Of course I cannot expect to have my 1-2 GB/day site hosted for $100/year. The problem I had is that I did not get any warning before the site suddenly became terribly slow and at times inaccesible. The rush on my site began in end november when I started serving about 10-12K users a day. The site still ran smootly and perfectly untill suddenly on Jan 2nd it all ended. 'Network is busy', 'Site not available', etc. There was no warning, no signs or anything.

Anyway, I still have two accounts at your place and they seem to be working fine now that lordotrings.com has left to a dedicated server. Again my apologies for jumping into conclusions....

i also have a hosting account with nexpoint and I love them :-)

I have 2 questions though, thought it might be quicker to ask you through the forum, and it will also help others:

I have signed up to the w2k special account, and I know it says 1 FTP account, and no sub-domains, but:
What do I need to do to get a couple more of FTP accounts? can you add me a few in exchange for one-time fee? or a low add to the monthly payment?

And about sub-domains - can I have sub-domains? if so - how many, and for payment or for free? if for payment - how much exactly each sub-domain will cost me?

these 2 questions bothered me a lot lately and I was to lazy to e-mail you.... plz answer

thnx in advance

Um ... OK. I don't understand worldlights why you would start up a thread that six months old? This has about Philip's escape from NTI to GearHost, not praising them .
