I was wondering what people expect to pay for outsourced support for dedicated servers and the like.
Some example scenarios I can think of:
* You have a web design business, and want to get your own server, but cannot administer it yourself.
* You want to buy and market your own dedicated server, but don’t/cant manage the technical side of things.
* Or your client base is increasing and you need additional staff for the extra workload.
The assumptions I'd make for this type of job is that it would be by 'remote access' but that support should be prompt and available all the time.
I've seen web hosting companies charge anywhere between $50 and $150 / hr, but this type of arrangement does not seem to be appropriate for day-to-day support and administration.
Would you pay a monthly fee that includes a number of support issues? And what kind of fee would you expect to pay?
If there are other support arrangements or payment types, I'd also be interested in those.
Would a managed server be better/cheaper?
I am not selling or requesting this type of service, it just seems to me that this kind of thing may be of benefit (or is already being used by) a number of people in these forums, and I'm wondering how much it costs.
