View Full Version : I have TOO much bandwidth!

Ok.. after looking at my usage on all my servers, it looks like I have a little more than 600 gigs of bandwidth that I'm not using right now across several machines. So, instead of it going to waste I thought about offering a special deal for WHT members.

I will offer the following accounts, not listed on my website:

5 accounts of:

30 gigs bandwidth
1 gig storage
500 pop3 accounts
5 mysql db's
up to 5 domains
adult ok
running on a 1 gig AMD server w/ Plesk

$20/month, no setup fee

10 accounts of:

15 gigs bandwidth
500 megs storage
100 pop3 accounts
2 mysql db's
up to 2 domains
adult ok
running on a Raq4 (Cobalt control panel of course)

$10/month, no setup fee

Note: possibly within a week or two, I will be replacing one or two of my AMD/Plesk servers with PIII866 machines with Cpanel, so there could be a chance that your accounts could be moving but there shouldn't be any downtime because of this. The reason being I have resellers on my Cpanel servers now that want to add more accounts but I'm having to set them up on the Plesk and Raq4 servers right now and they prefer Cpanel.

Also, with any hosting plan get a nationwide dialup internet account for $10/month.

Thank you.

also what are the specs on the AMD server

is this available for resellers

I would be looking for 4-5 gigs space and 30gb bandwidth, could you swing that?

thanks

Well if you goto http://www.domainwhitepages.com and look up their domain: myvirtualnet.net it says that domain is hosted at Burst.net.

I would, however, assume that the above mentioned plans would be hosted at Rackshack unless they are moved to the cpanel server.. That, ofcoarse, is my assumption...

I have one server with Burst, 3 at Rackshack, and 2 at Empire (a data provider in Oregon).

Both of our AMD machines are 1 gig servers w/ 512 meg RAM which are at Rackshack, which runs Plesk (a control panel for maintenance of your account.. www.plesk.com), and yes it can be used for resellers. I typically create reseller accounts for each individual according to what they need/want. As stated in my original message though, the Plesk servers may be switched over to PIII866 servers running Cpanel (cpanel is another control panel that we get more requests for). But my tests have shown there is no detectable difference between a 1gig AMD and a PIII866 serving sites, so the performace should be almost identical.

If/when we do activate these other servers, they will be located elsewhere than RS (I will give the details of the provider when it's finalized).

But about the reseller plans, I could give you:
5 gigs storage
30 gigs BW
up to 10 domains hosted
PHP4, Frontpage, cgi-bin, webmail, and more,
for $35/month, no setup fee

And I will setup your account and let you use the services for free for the first month, no obligation and no contract.

Additional bandwidth will be $1.50/gig, billed in 1 gig increments.

If you have any other questions just reply here or email me.

Thank you for your interest.

Yes, that is correct but just for the sake of conversation, it is possible to remove Plesk from a RS server and load Cpanel which I contemplated. Also there are at least 2 other companies out there now offering 300 gigs of BW (one of which is not 100% Cogent either).. could be more, not sure.

I just wish Burst would offer more BW for their prices and not make my search so hard :) They haven't changed their site or their plans/prices in a year :( But I like having a variety of offerings out there so I have means to quickly take care of disasters that could happen at any one NOC.

As far as I know you can have RackShack take Plesk off of the Box and then you can install CPanel, but then RackShack will not be able to support that box as they don't support CPanel.

Anyone else have more info one this???

Unless something has changed within the last few hours that I'm not aware of, RS will not take Plesk off or offer a plain Redhat box. But as mentioned, it's your server and you can do what you wish and take Plesk off (samething with their Ensim servers), but at that point you do pretty much cut yourself off from their support other than performing reboots and replacing hardware failures.

Yes I know. Their monthly price point is excellent and makes it tempting to do, but I don't like the idea of being left out in the cold about the support though either :) Over the last two years I've made a lot of headway in administrating *nix and rarely have to submit trouble tickets, but I like the idea of knowing I can when I need to :)

I generally charge $1/domain on reseller accounts over the specified amount, so I would do $25/month for that plan with 10 domains.
