Just wondering how prevalent it was for Web hosts to accept personal cheques from clients... seeing as how I asking about it in another thread.
Thanks!

Thanks! Neil method5 01-15-2002, 10:52 PM No, too much of a hassle. Even with a business account it takes over 30 days for a cheque to clear from another country for me. voxtreme - philip 01-15-2002, 11:00 PM No. Again, too much hassle. Would complicate non-payments and refunds. Sectorlink 01-16-2002, 12:29 AM We accept checks if the payment is for 3 months of hosting and the customer is from the US. Their account is not activated until the check clears. 2Grumpy 01-16-2002, 12:51 AM I gladly accept checks. I even activate the account when a customer says they're sending one. So I get burned once in a while, the goodwill it creates with the ones who don't burn me are well worth the trouble. Been burned once. So he got a months free hosting. I have a signup link that gives people their first month free that I posted a while back. It's all good :D akuo 01-16-2002, 11:42 PM I find with the ease of using a virtual terminal to process credit cards, it seems very 'olde-worlde' to be taking cheques :) And then of course there's the problem of bouncing cheques etc, For now I'm happy just taking credit cards. But I'm thinking about accepting cheques for pre-payment... That's not a bad idea. |
