View Full Version : Paysystems ODBC Error Anyone?
Skeptical 01-15-2002, 09:53 PM I'm getting this error when trying to view my pending/settled orders over at Revecom. Anyone getting this?
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e31'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired
/cgi-v310/admin/transaction/newsales.asp, line 111
spartner 01-16-2002, 12:00 PM PaySystems/Revecom sucks now a days! Not only are we loosing $$$, but also our reputation. Over the past 15 days our mail box is flodded with our members constantly complaining about 'page not found' or ODBC errors. These are the types of errors you see on a developer machine and NOT IN A PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT!!!
Looks like they do not how to run mission critical systems. And they don't understand the importance of their jobs!
Looks like they are going down! I would NOT advice anyone to signup with them. We are loking a merchant account ourselves.
Good luck
RotoHost 01-16-2002, 05:27 PM We've gotten the same error messages over the last few days which is one of the reasons we've opened our merchant account.
Overall, though, I'd say Revecom is an excellent 3rd-party CC processor.
airtime166 01-16-2002, 05:37 PM yeah everyone has problem now and then cant blame them for this truly now if it takes along time to fix the problem then they have a issue :) keep us posted i dont use them
regier 01-16-2002, 07:13 PM On top of the system problems they have done some highly unethical things with my account in the last week or two. Therefore I am in the process of running as far from them as I can. Seeing as I am Canadian there doesn't seem to be a lot of alternative options available though.
porcupine 01-16-2002, 07:36 PM regier: just a FYI, i looked up how much it is for a merchant account from TD bank (just to get a going rate) and it's only $40 cdn per month to rent the terminal and a 20$ minimum on fee's per month. That and 3-5% of your transaction goes to them, but compared to a lot of these processors, that seems really cheap.
Oh, and 5$ processing fee for all chargebacks.
I dont know if it helps, but it's a lot more affordable then i thought originally.
regier 01-16-2002, 07:51 PM Wow,
That isn't bad at all. I never thought of actually going to the banks and getting merchant accounts. Is that for visa or for mastercard?
porcupine 01-16-2002, 07:54 PM Thats for visa, but it's kinda complicated. I checked theres also a 50-150$ setup, and you can process AMEX and master card on the same machine, but you gotta deal with visa & mastercard seperately, dont ask me why... Also, i was told there was no security deposit, etc. which is a bonus.
regier 01-16-2002, 10:16 PM Cool,
I'll have to look into it and hopefully it will work. I am just working on getting a bank account in the states now through royal bank. Hopefully if I can get that it will help me get a merchant account somewhere as well as an authorize.net gateway.
avara 01-16-2002, 10:32 PM If you're looking for a real merchant account, try http://www.hurtweb.com/merch-acct.html
There is a $99 setup fee, and transactions are $2.29 + 30 cents. The monthly fee is $10, unless you need support which is another $10 for months where you access technical support.
The monthly minimum is just 25 bucks. This is a real merchant account, and much better value than going to your local bank. ;)

Transactions are $2.29 + 30 cents? why not just say "Transactions are $2.59"? Also, if you read up, the bank will set you up with a merchant account for 50-150$ (CDN funds, CDN bank), and only 3-5%, which often times will be less then $2.59/transaction (and is that $2.59 for all transactions? even ones over $500)? Also, my local bank minimum is $20, and the $40/month is to rent a terminal.....
no offense, i just fail to see how relying on another online merchant account vendor (which you dont get your own cc processing terminal, etc.) for more $$$ is better value....
OkGoNow 01-17-2002, 12:41 AM This might sound elementary, or justplain stupid, but Ive been pretty satisfied with ProPay.com
Edit: Oh yeah, it's not a full (REAL) merchant account though..
http://www.propay.com.

regier 01-17-2002, 02:56 AM Does propay do reocurring transactions and allow you to change the monthly ammount?

I grabbed this from their website:

Shopping Carts
Integrate ProPay's XML Interface with your shopping cart and rest easy knowing your transactions are being processed by ProPay.
Monthly Recurring Revenue

Customized Needs

It seems a little pricy I think.. But then again, your paying virtually nothing for the merchant account. below are the prices I found:
Purchase a single license* of ProPay's XML Interface for mass credit card processing now for only $395 (2 hours of technical support included, $195 a year renewal fee)
They have live customer support 8am-8pm Mountain time.. Visit their website.

regier 01-17-2002, 03:25 AM Thanks,
Maybe I will call them tomorrow and see what they have to say. After dealing with paysytems I'm a bit hesitant to try another 3rd party processor though :(
OkGoNow 01-17-2002, 03:27 AM Ive had 100% satisfaction with both their customer support, and transactions.
Thanks

regier 01-17-2002, 04:29 AM That's really good to hear. It is rare to see that these days.

Skeptical 01-17-2002, 06:06 AM I'm getting the same error now too. Man PaySystems.com is getting BAD!
Does anyone know what's happening over there?
"Catastrophic failure":smash:
Glad I ditched Paysystems and made the switch over to WorldPay during their festive offer special recently :)
FWIW Revecom seems to be back up.... for now at least ;)
regier 01-17-2002, 06:12 PM Thanks OkGoNow :D
regier 01-18-2002, 03:35 AM Hey ck,
I'm looking into worldpay now. They look like they are quite good. Is their reocurring orders fairly easy. Do you use a billing solution like modernbill, or just their own system. Are they a good company to deal with? What was the festive deal?
RotoHost 01-18-2002, 04:50 AM Well, it seems PaySystems is down again. I'm getting the "catastrophic failure" message :bawling:
Skeptical 01-18-2002, 05:07 AM Me too. What's wrong with these guys man? I have pending orders that are like 3 days old too that haven't been verified.
regier 01-18-2002, 05:23 AM Speaking of which, am I the only one that hasn't had the middle of the month settlement take place. Normally they should do it on the 15th, and I would be paid on the 18th. They still haven't done it yet though. Also, none of my reocurring transactions for the last week have been processed.
Just wanted to see if I was the only one in this situation. I should be getting money on Friday, but it looks like it will be very late this time.
maxhost 01-18-2002, 06:31 AM same here...
No recurring, no New order...

Just want to start some ADV campaign but with this errors on paysystems....
Synergy 01-18-2002, 06:33 AM I've just noticed that Paysystems no longer email people about new orders...... And guess what happened to me for the past 2 weeks where I fergot to check paysystems............:bawling:
There a problem with Free Trials....
Customers did not delete them, but we can't find couple of orders in TotalCart database!
regier 01-18-2002, 06:56 AM Actually, on the ones that you didn't get emailed, you will need to check them. On a lot of them the order information doesn't go through as well. At the bottom it won't say what plan it is, etc. If this was supposed to be a reocurring order, it won't be. For instance, if it is a $20/month plan, you will get the first $20, but the customer won't be billed monthly at all.
We get this happening a couple of times a day. You have to issue a refund, and hope that you can convince the person to order again. This is extremely hard especially if the client was trying for days before they finally got that far.
