How is cogent network speed, ping, uptime at this stage?
I see more and more dedicated provider offering cogent solutions. They just got more interesting as time goes by.
It is extremely hard to resist.

They are great for the office :) but I still think they are not ready for prime time hosting yet. Rackshack had them in the mix a couple months ago, but pulled the plug due to problems.

I belive it was because the time warner Gig-E loop that they're cogent ran in on and "hardware incompatibilitys" between they're routers and cogents. Not actually because of cogent uptime/reliability.
Where did you find out RS pulled the plug on cogent? I must have missed that.

I believe they pulled the plug several weeks ago... The information was made public in the Rackshack forum by the Headsurfer (I think it was him).
I'm not sure but it could very well be the equipment, they mentioned getting new equipment if i remember correctly.

I don't think they really "pulled the plug" as in permenent removal, and what they are saying is that it is a problem with equippment incompatiblity. From the graphs at RS, they continue to test it.

Yep, never thought it was permanent... Infact I was hoping it wasn't permanent but they did well pull the plug.
I did notice the testing as I might be interested in such a setup in the future. ($300 for the 10 mbps)
A 1 GIG connection for isps cost $30,000... We will pay the same rate that RS is most likely paying cogent. Don't ya just love overselling? I think it's a great idea once again... I also hope they get both Gigabit Ethernet connections up as i may want to get one in the near future.

You should also do a search of the forum as this topic comes up about once a month :)

I must of missed that too!
Is RS still offering their clients the 300gb per server then?
That's going to eat a hole in their pockets.

They have the left-over bandwidth from dial-up customers. That's why they are the only ones I see as suitable to offer this, because they have some overhead with the bandwidth, anyone else is just using pure cogent and overselling a lot.
