Hello Guys & Gals...

Heres the problem:

My Hosting business partner recently became the proud father of a bouncing baby boy. This now means he has to step back a bit from the company. He was largly responsable for the coding side of things, which means things take a while to get done now.

I have decided that now is an opertune moment to learn some programing.

The language i decided on is PHP. The main reason being that i know nothing about programing and many people seem to favour it. (is that right?)

The main problem is i have no idea where to start!

Are there any good sites for this?

Give me your feedback, i certainly need it!

Thanks guys.

PHP is my favourite, so i think it is a good choice for you :)

i would suggest you to search for "PHP tutorial" in yahoo and then go through a few. After you have some knowledge of it, go to hotscripts.com to download some simple PHP scripts and learn from other people's works. the online documentation at php.net is very useful as well

it might be a bit difficult to start if you know nothing about programming, but PHP is simple yet powerful and the learning process is fun, so... good luck :D

You just missed a thread on this topic, it's here if you wanna take a look at it, talks on some good books you should start with:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31501

But if you don't feel like reading it...Tough:D , no just kidding, I would highly HIGHLY recommend Wrax "Professional PHP Programming ", it's the big red book in Barnes and Noble.

Some sites:
http://www.phpbuilder.com
http://www.php.net
http://www.zend.com
http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/programming/php/
