For the majority of visitors the primary site (www.webhostingtalk.com) will be faster. However, there have been some complaints of connectivity problems to the main site by visitors using certain providers and/or coming from certain areas of the glode, for those affected the mirror site will probably be faster and more responsive.

Seems to be slower. But, then, I have the worst connection.
This reply is written from there. ;)

Is it supposed to come back with this:
"There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience."

it will be slower if you have a fast connection becuase it's using the Database at the server on abovenet .. so you experience a second or so of delay

the idea is for people that have problem conection to Above to be able to use it :)

In theory the mirror will never be faster than the primary site - why? Because the mirror has to use the same database, and the database is hosted in another data centre along with the primary site. So not only do you have the overhead of accessing the mirror (As you would with primary) you also have maybe an extra 40ms+ for the mirror to access the primary site which is why it will be slower for most people.

As for who hosts it, it's DataColo / WizardsHosting as you can see at the bottom of the forum on the mirror.

Hmmm, guess I was beaten to it

Considering www2 wasn't in my cache, I woud say it's par with www, speed wise.

I am in California, using Verizon pipes.
