I haven't used them, but their service looks interesting. I wonder how they can get by with letting people directly enter someone's credit card details even though ProPay technically doesn't provide a "real" merchant account. I think it still could be considered factoring.

What do you mean?

Hi all,

I've used them from time to time for about one year and have never had a problem. I just noticed that they have allowed merchants to start processing credit cards themselves instead of sending an email to the customer.

I have now used this function as well. I like them alot because they provide a service similar to Paypal but your customer didn't have to have an account with them. I understand PayPal has an option now where the customer doesn't need an account to pay you either.

So far I recommend ProPay. Good service and the rates are certainly ok. At least you don't have to get yourself into a more expensive merchant account right away (setup fees and monthly minimums, etc). You can save that for when you have more customers and can afford it.

Since when?

Well, I checked into it... I vaguely remember reading something about PayPal either having this feature or that they were going to add it. However after looking through my account, I couldn't find any reference to it. I'm sure I didn't think of this while I was daydreaming. But maybe it wasn't a feature yet. I don't know. So I guess my recommendation for ProPay stands.

I wanted to sign-up with propay a while ago, but they ask for SSN and I did not want to give it out.

There was also an option for paypal for people to pay with their bank accounts (checking account). That option is no longer there. I had not realized this but a couple of days ago I had a cusotmer who wanted to pay by his bank account and he left.

Does anyone know if they eliminated this option?

thanks

I have a CC and checking account listed on PayPal. I have ordered stuff and if it wasnt in my PayPal account they auto withdrew it from my checking. I last did this about a week ago so its still there.

Accounts are required to send/receive payments. Some may not like it, but it can help recipients of payments establish recurring billing. We are looking into the option of non-account creation.

As far as the SSN request by ProPay, I wouldn't be afraid to give it to them. They are actually owned by an FDIC insured bank. I forgot which one, but its listed on their web site. In that case they would need your SSN number as they are regulated by the government and have certain requirements placed on them, one of which probably is reporting suspicious activity (all banks do this), so that would be one reason they need your SSN. I've never had trouble with them. The service is highly recommended by me.

I actually think paypals service is pretty neat and I will be promoting the signup not only for my benefit but also because it also has many other benefits.

The thing is a lot of people don't like signing up for membership if it's not utterly important. I will be trying to stress the fact that it's great to signup but I would also like to have an option in case they still do not want to sign up.
