i know with godaddy the autorenew is defaulted on. are all registrar's like that?

why did you get burned? just change the setting to turn off the auto renew. maybe someone else can comment on registerfly/namecheap/ev1.

no.... mostly registrar not have autorenew is defaulted on.

By default most of the good registrars have auto-renew disabled. Suprisingly many registrars/resellers do not even offer auto-renew
