Personally I recommend Sony Mavicas. I have one and love it.

I'd go for the Nikon 995... but check out dpReview.com (http://www.dpreview.com/) .It's the best digicam review site.

Depending on your budget, but I have found the Canon Power Shot G2 4.0 Mega Pixels doing a great job for around $ 880.00

But it all depends on what your going to do with it.

Happy hunting :)

In my opinion, a 4 megapixel, $800+ camera would be overkill for most web related pictures. You could get by with 1.3-2 easily and they have some nice ones out in the $150-$400 range, but knowing your budget and past likes/dislikes, experience would help.

The absolutely best camera to get is:

Product: Lumix DMC-LC5
Company: Panasonic Consumer Electronics
Price: $799
Available: February 2002

my opinion...

I totally agree if you only do websites, but "for a few extra" you get a relly good camera that you can grow with and even use for print.

-My few Euro Cents

Be careful, some of them are really horrible, the ones with the proper carl zeiss (sp?) lens are good, the others are more your 'happy-snappy' take a picture of the kids at the beach type camera, if you know what i mean :D

I've got the Canon Digital IXUS - the smallest one on the market when I bought it two years back. It rocks! I take it everywhere cos it fits in my pocket. (I never took my old normal film camera anywhere before this) At 2.1megpix, it's good for the web and the print quality is basically photo standard as far as I can tell.

I think that's the same one I have, but it goes by either the S100 or S110 here in the states. Have to look it up to see which.

Easy answer to the question: Nikon CoolPix 5000....

5.24 MP (5 effective) - 28-85 & 4x digital zoom... Very nice wide angle lense. The 995 is not bad, but its only 3.3 MP. You can get the 885 which is 3.2 MP for only 599; where as the 995 cost (899 - 100 rebate) For the most part they have hte same features.

But I've got the 5000 and love it! You can set f.stops, shutter speed, etc! I've heard of people priting 16x20s with it!

CoolPix 5000 - $1100.
