I was wondering if anyone remembered a web design from a few years ago that was a direct emulation of the Windows Desktop...

It was a full in browser view of the desktop (in JScript if i remember) with a working start menu etc.

The folders were objects that upon clicking opened a new window w/ the page it referenced....

If anyone remembers this can (or do you still have) you post the link to it?...

Thanks

Brain Jar (http://www.brainjar.com) is most likely the one you remembered.

WebFX (http://webfx.eae.net) also has some (mostly IE-only) desktop emulation widgets.

Maybe... 2-3 years.... About that...

I used it on a site a long time ago that has since been purged from the old webmasters HD.... And I wanted to use it again... Even google didn't keep a cache of my page...

I may know what you mean... though I can't find it in my bookmarks. You could click on win3.1 and see what your pages would look like through that or anything else? Am I close?

Def not 3.1... It was 95/98 lookin...

It was a full webpage designed to look like a 98 desktop...

The generic Micr$oft blue background...

The base of the source an include for the backend and a listing of functions like

AddFolder(FolderName, Link, XCord, YCord)
AddStartMenuItem(Title,Link)

etc..., etc...

Weird, BrainJar doesn't have the FULL desktop emulation up anymore on the site.
