We're looking for something that will only look at disk space usage. I've tried Helm and Plesk and neither of them are what we are looking for. I'm basically trying to monitor the disk space usage on 3 different servers for specific websites (Website A uses X amount of disk space on a web server, Y amount of disk space on a file server and Z amount of disk space on the SQL server).

Helm and Plesk seem to be limited to only viewing thier own servers, and will only monitor websites that their applications create. We have an existing infrastructure and don't want to redesign it to accomodate software.

Does anyone have any ideas? A php app or something that will give very basic statistics that will determine that amount of disk space used by a specific website? (php is an example...it doesn't have to be php).

Oh, it's a pure windows 2003 environment.

We also have no intention of allowing these statistics available to the public. This is for internal usage only...so the complicated "Owner, Reseller, User" structure really isn't desireable....

The Applicaiton FolderSizes is more what I'm looking for, however I'm looking for a more automated solution. Most of the applications out there that monitor disk usage will only give specifics on the entire drive, not the folders.

This is exteremly frustrating as I've spent almost two weeks looking for a solution and am no closer to finding one then when I started.

I'm in need of an application, or script, or whatever that will monitor specific folders on multiple servers and if possible monitor SQL database sizes (Can be two seperate apps/scripts/whatever).

I appreciate the links Corey and they helped me to isolate more of what I'm looking for, but I'm looking for something a little more automated.

We're basically trying to provide reports for our sales representatives so they can inform our clients of how much disk space each client is using. Since there are multiple clients on each server, we can't use a generic "Here's how much free space the D: drive has." We have well over 100 websites running on multiple servers and the reports need to be specific enough to show to each individual client.

Again, thanks for the links Corey. I've sent an email to FolderSizes to see if they are able to meet our needs, but in the mean time I'd like to continue to find a solution that will fit better for our needs.

have you posted something on Helm's forum? They have a lot of scripts in their BKMs that might also be able to help you. I know exactly what you want - but getting it is a different story

Ya, Helm said their product could do it, but I didn't like 2 things about it:

A) Configuring settings that I would never use. It had Billing and DNS and MIME Types and a whole other wack of stuff that we would never use. Disabling it was fine, but there were certaing things like FrontPage Extensions that I couldn't disable.

B) I had to modify the OS in order to get it to install, and it wouldn't monitor an existing infrastructure. It would only work with whatever Helm would install

Actually, after contacting FolderSizes support they have shown me that it include a command line interface to run it in a batch file. This is perfect and I can schedule that to run once a day. Now I'm on the hunt for something to do tell me the amount of space that a SQL database is using....Thanks for the help corey! I really appreciate it!
