I am just wondering, if I sign up with a Linux/Unix host that offer MySQL while I am using Windows myself, would there be any problems for me?

Which version of MySQL should I download (Windows or Linux)?

No problems. For your own Windows machine you should of course use the Windows version.

MySQL has import and export functions ( to and from regular ASCII files ) so you are able to move databases between Windows/Linux.

phpMyAdmin is a nice util for that. Try to find a hosting company with phpMyAdmin installed.

I think > 90% of unix hosting companies have it.
