I am on a WIN2k PRO computer with apache installed. I am running it as just a simple test server for my web page before I upload it. What I want to do is set up virtual hosts or name-based hosting for a few things for family and friends who want to make a site on the computer.

Changing the information in httpd.conf so it has a virtual host, I restart apache. How do I access the site and what steps should I take in getting ready for it to be seen.

This is all over localhost remember.

Also are there any cgi/php scripts that could do this?

I think you need to run a DNS service...

to do all that locally, you'll need to upgrade to win2k server, which comes with an option to install DNS
