I believe this is a misleading advert.

and it all starts at just $0.00

It is not possible to get any webhosting for $0.00 per month

$0.00 per month = zero webspace + zero diskspace + zero domains + zero POP diskspace

(And lets not even start to talk about the $15 set-up fee!)

Why isn't your httpd server running on port 80? Or for matter why isn't there *any* httpd server on port 80? Do all your hosted sites have to sit on port 8443?

Its a custom plan so there's not starting price for it. That's what it's mean by the $0.00 per month. And yes $15 setup, who said there wasn't a setup fee. If it bothers you that much, I'll take it out.

Something else just occured to me.

You cannot host any accounts at $0.00. I just tried, and it still goes to $1.00/month + $15 setup. Damn, i wanted to order 50 free accounts with 2 free email lists. Very misleading post, i doubt it will leave a good impression on the webhostingtalk.com crowd.

OK, just to answer some of the questions. The server the form is on isn't the server which hosted sites are on. It's a SECURE server which is why no port 80 is running.

Second, the $0.00 was refering to the fact the the montly cost of hosting depends on the user and the package they design for themselves. No one is misleading anyone here.

Prepackaged plans have a starting price of that price, customized plans do not. It's that simple.

Also you can't order FREE emails, if you don't order a plan, you don't get email. Come on, people, no one is misleading anyone. The add is to be a eye catcher. If I was offering free hosting, I would say free hosting. If you read the actual post, it says you pay for ....... not everything is free.

It says Starts at.... not you pay $0.00 per month.

Why do you charge an extra cent for E-Mail space vs. webspace? Seems to me like it uses the same amount of resources.

well it is misleading, you get nothing by paying $0.00, you have to put at least 1 domain, so it is starting at $1.00

p.s. the bandwidth calculation in the form is not working correctly, when I put 1MB there it will become 1GB

thats the point i was trying to make, it seems like it fell on deaf ears, you cannot start at $0.00, even the form wont let you, the lowest you can get is $1.00/month.

Also, what does having a secure server have to do with *not* running anything on port 80? My box runs SSL on port 443 (default) and regular httpd on port 80.

OK, you two if I could change the title I would. Anyone who reads this post will know that this isn't a free hosting offer. But you two want to pick it appart, that's fine.

But to answer some of the more appropriate questions. Hosting isn't always done on one server. I know that's what you're probably used to having and don't really understand true hosting how advanced hosting can be. In a multiple server environment where servers performs single tasks, you can't have the web space, email space and database space on one server. See if you have three servers where one server runs, database, one runs web server and the other runs email, you have to assign quotas on the server thus charging for them. So that's why there's a charge for email space, database space and web space.

Now with that said, I hope you two can find better things to do with your time.

Anyone else that has questions pertaining to the hosting plans please do ask. What you see is what you get. We charge for email space, web space, bandwidth and database space.

Now with the whole port 80 and 8443 who ever said port 80 needed to run on any server? The reason why port 80 isn't on there is because that server doesn't server port 80. No more, no less. The server is for our control panel and also for serving secure forms. The control panel runs on a different port as well as the port 8443. If I want port 80 on that site then we'll enable it on port 80. Port 80 and 443 are DEFAULT ports, no said you have to use them.

Well like I siad, if I could change the title of the post I would so you guys can be happy.

1. Anyone who reads this post will know that this isn't a free hosting offer? no, I seriously thought it includes free hosting (starting at $0.00)

2. I think you can change the title by clicking on "edit" at your first post, not very sure though...

3. Your price is good enough, so there is no need to use such a controvesial title

4. porcupine and I was just giving you some advise, but I feel offended by your reply

Sayap, sorry if I offended you, and anyone at that matter.

You can't change the title on edit. I tried it but I could only change text. If I'm wrong someone should correct me. I see where you're coming with the title but that wasn't the intention. Hopefully, the moderators will change it to read "Customize Web Hosting (Create your own package)"

Thanks...

wow, can you feel the hostility in this thread? it's like a electrical heater, just radiating at this point.

Cahostnet, I was trying to point out two things, nothing more.

1. You dont have *any* hosting plans that start at $0.00.

2. Most "normal" (shoot me in the foot for using that word, but i lack any better) would host their signup process on a normal server as http:// on port 80, or https:// on 443. Typically when you find a server hosting offers off another port, something is seriously wrong.

Hope that clarifies things for you.

porcupine, maybe you care to share with us why something is "seriously wrong" when you use a different port.

Yeah, I've got to agree here - so what if the signup form is on port 8443? Your site will still be on port 80 - it doesn't indicate anything abnormal.

'Typically when you find a server hosting offers off another port, something is seriously wrong. '

I don't know if that statement is true on any level. Downside is some firewalls will not allow traffic through.

Come on, people. This is actually a good marketing concept. You keep sifting the sand until there's no sand left. Buy it or don't. No one's forcing you and no one owes you the excruciating details of their business operation.
