View Full Version : New at Dedicated Hosting Industry
Hello all,
I'm new at dedicated hosting industry, so I would like to count on the community to learn more about it. Well, I would like to know if the most of the dedicated packages are "ready-to-go", I mean: do I need any special configuration to start hosting or the default installation is enough? I'm asking this because I have a potential customer I would like to host on this new server as soon as possible.
EV1Servers is a popular company, as I've seen. Forget the reviews and opinions; what are the biggest companies?
Thank you, Andre.

I asked for the biggest companies to avoid people saying: go read the reviews!, but if you would like to tell me about the best companies, based on your experience, fell free to; I will really appreciate this. =]
NickTooms 09-08-2004, 11:39 AM Big company does not mean that it works good!
gmoney3 09-08-2004, 11:44 AM ugh, sorry i didnt ask this last time, but you had said biggest and you said best, now by the BEST do you mean like the best support as though you want a managed server? or just like the best network. Since you has first asked the biggest company, do you want a company that has huge client base? is that what you meant by biggest or maybe you want the one with the biggest datacenter or biggest network connection? What i'm asking is . do you mean the BIggest as in the amount of clients? or the network OR the best as in the best for managed servers or the best network?
haha, dont mean to confuse you:)
atchoooo 09-08-2004, 11:48 AM If you get a server with a control panel like cPanel or Ensim your server will be ready for hosting with its basic configuration. You may have more work to do to get the server ready for hosting if you do not choose any control panel.

That's what I thought.. but at EV1Servers Forums one guy told me I would need to config the server with my DNSes to get ready, etc. Does any company offer a "read-to-go" solution?

CactusCounty 09-08-2004, 03:51 PM 15minuteserves is great, and I'd highly recommend them, but you'll need to configure the server yourself or hire server management to take care of it.
There are managed server companies, and they come in all shapes and sizes, as well as all manner of quality of services. Do you have specs and budget in mind?
