Speaking as an ex-ANz customer/dupe: I'm thrilled with beachcomber. I've only had this server a week, but I've sent in several support tickets ranging from silly questions I should have known the answers to myself to getting RDNS setup and having Zend optimizer installed. Each ticket was answered quickly and clearly, even on labor day. The installation of zend was done within an hour of my request.

Their network is (so far) lightyears better than managed.com (which I was on through ANz). And although I signed up for the P4 2.8, I wound up with a P4 3.0, so no complaints there.

Setup time may take a day or two, but they tell you that up front. I think they resell DedicatedNOW as they mention that they are in the FortressITX space (East Coast) and their configurations are remarkably similar. I imagine someone will correct me if I'm wrong on this though.

I say kudos so far.

Matt

they have servers in various datacenters - so it all depends on which one you choose :)

I've been with them since March and I love em. Support is great and reliable - I dont sweat things anymore - whether its 2am or 6pm they'll answer support requests within a reasonable time frame - usually less the an hour.

They dont mind teaching small stuff either :)

Server setup time is more than a few days at the moment. Hopefully I can tell you more soon though...

They are probably still recovering from all the orders they likely got with the special they ran last week. I think quite a few ex-ANz customers headed their direction when things went south with Donna&Co.

We mentioned on our sales post that orders after 5PM on friday would be delayed because of the holiday weekend...Our supplier doesn't work weekends... we should be back to normal tomorrow with all oustanding servers (as promised...[;->>>...) delivered today.

Yeap, I have to agree and say so far so good.

I signed up for a server on Sunday and it was all set-up and working today (Wednesday) which is pretty good considering the US holiday weekend.

Confirmation email was very thorough and I am now just in the process of transferring my site over from the AN dedicated server to Beachcomber's dedicated server.

Cheers - Dav:D

Beachcomber has been great. I had a reseller plan through them for months and took the latest special they ran last week and get a great value for the service. I would highly recommend them.

Hope this helps. ..

Beachcomber sounds great but BOY THEIR WEBSITE NEEDS HELP!

I sprained my finger from scrolling so much!

I didn't buy that server special the other day because I only had a few mins in front of a terminal and I couldn't find it on their site..

They have added-on management package for $49.95/mth.

To Answer:

We are a semi-managed company...we do kernel updates and ensure that all preinstalled software is and stays operational (other than Fantastico scripts...we make sure Fantastico itself works but can't warranty the scripts included WITH Fantastico). We also monitor 8 ports on the server to be sure they are operational and intercede if they fail automatically. If you are having other issues on the server we will try to help but we do not do real script debugging or custom software installs, etc.

The Advanced Server Management package at $49.95 includes firewall installation, server hardening, etc..

Questions...?

Sales@beachcomber.net and we will be happy to answer :D

Beachcomber should hold a contest on WHT. Whoever does a site redesign for them gets a server for free for a month or 2..

Just a suggestion
