I don't know if they have any customers, as I have still yet to come accross user reviews. They do on the other hand have quick response from sales (don't know if that reflects customer support though!)

Yes User Reviews would be a good thing here.

Why not cut out the middle man and go with DV2 directly - either way you're only getting 91.6% uptime guaranteed.

Copyright 1994-2001, CobaltHost. All rights reserved. - from their site.

Cobalts have not been around that long. Maybe they gave Cobalt their name???

I would go with RackShack.

Vortech hosting has been around that long....
The host that owns them, I think it is vortech, Or it starts with a "V"

I own the company. Some of the material on our site is from our site ValueTech which was originally created in 1996. (Then under n-i.com)

Regardless, I'm mainly saving up cash so the company can safely weather an even worse down turn should it come. If you look at our site, you can see that we're now taking only co-lo. For people wanting RaQ's, go with RS. :-) Heck, we have some servers there!

Regards,
Drew

The point is you are misleading customers by telling them "Copyright 1994-2001, CobaltHost. All rights reserved.". You are saying, Cobalthost has been in business since 1994 because *they* have owned the copyright (which is probably just a mark, and not actually registered with the govt - just a guess) since then. If it is another company or parent company, then they own the copyright, not Cobalt host.

And also, since your company was created in 1996, why are you telling people it has a copyright since 1994????

I know just enough to get in trouble. To the best of my knowledge, which I just prefaced as inadequate, you can consider something copyrighted (or at least prevent others from flat copying you as some companies have copied us) if you created it first. Like a patent, others cannot copyright your material if you had precedence.

Now, the dates. I've been writing this copy since 1994. I used much of it with VT in 1996 and then CobaltHost the last two years. There's nothing misleading about that.

Best,
Drew

Bottom line: This is a forum of competitors. We all try to beat the Hell out of each other with little gain. If that's your hobby, sounds fun. Mine is avoiding it. :)

Am I a competitor? What company do I have that competes?

Bottom line: Some are better at using the gray area that is given us. Some use it as a way to get a leg up on others. Even though they know, deep down, it is a lie or is misleading.

Regarding the abuse of the system - Does it happen and is it legal? Sure. Is it right? You be the judge.

Good luck with colo and saving up cash.

<edit>
This is strictly my view point on the use of a copyright and my belief it is used to represent something it shouldn't. Other then this, I know nothing of this host - good or bad.
