Hi all,

I have a strange problem here. When I go to my site, which is serving ads (120x600 & 468x60 banners), I cannot see the banner in 90% of pageviews. The 468x60 banner is loading fine all the time, but 120x600 will load once in say 10 times refreshing the page.

That's on IE with SP2( which I uninstalled yesterday, but when I click Help>About in IE it says IE SP2)........so I tested the same 10 times refreshing the same page with Netscape and in Netscape everything is fine. That makes me think that SP2 have some troubles on IE. Is anyone else noticed this? I read somewhere that with SP2 "some media servers might have problems" or something like that.....

To those who thinks I have trojans and viruses: I don't have them as I scanned everything and have KAV 5 & Outpost running all the time.

Now I'm trying to roll back that IE SP2 to IE SP1.....wish me good luck.

I have SP2 downloaded waiting to be installed, contemplating doing it, not sure I want to.

I wouldn't ........allready removed it and trying to roll back to IE SP1........but without success yet, maybe it's impossible.

There are way too many bugs with SP2, it has troubles with some games/programmes as mine KAV 5 , etc.....I wish I didn't install it in the first place.

Yea, I read a list of programs that may experience problems with the patch. Not worth the trouble I don't think, I'm actually looking at buying a Mac now, or converting to Linux.

I've not experienced a single problem with SP2 or a single program that doesn't work. Most of the problems with programs and SP2 are simply that you need to configure the Windows firewall. Because I have Norton that kicked in instead of the Windows firewall.

Not had any problems with games either, not that I play many, but Steam is fine.

Ah, I use Steam to occasionally, I also run Norton, did it cause much fuss with Norton, or just some 'Permit Configuring' ?

Nope, SP2 rebooted and when it started up it went straight to the security centre and asked me if I wanted to use Windows Firewall instead of Norton or Norton instead of the Windows Firewall.

It turned the windows firewall off for me and made Norton the default.

I upgraded all our Windows machines to SP2 and have had no problems thus far.

I've not had any issues with SP2 on the machines we have to run Windoze. I still suggest using Firefox instead of IE, that application just stinks.

Only problem so far is that SP2 doesn't seem to recognize the status of my Norton Anti Virus and firewall. The popup blocker- well, many ad networks seem to already have gotten around it.

Need to update Norton Internet Security to work with the Security Center

Hmmm I don't use NIS, just Norton Anti Virus. Anyhow, I've gone ahead and disabled the Security Center's alerts, as even after updating NAV, the warnings are still there.

I know numerous people who have had major problems with SP2. I wouldn't go near the upgrade right now.

To sum up all.....

I uninstalled SP2(I think), followed the microsoft registry instuctions on how to reinstall IE, then I installed IE SP1, and boom, I open IE it doesn't say what version, cifer, etc. everything is blank. However I can still browse , BUT without javascript, it wouldn't recognise javascript at all(if you ask, it was enabled in options...).

Next , I tried to search for some file, the search wouldn't open, tried open System Restore, it would open only from second time and freeze. So, after hours of trying to solve all tyhem problems I decided to back everything up, format C, and install a fresh xp pro. Now it's all stable with good old IE 6.0 . Took me quite time.....to back up all I had. I wouldn't install SP2 if I were you, as it has bugs (as usual 4 microsoft), let's wait......ergh , maybe a year or two?
