Hi

I was just working on setting up my Ikonboard forum and suddenly got cut off from Site5... tried to ping it from my other server at VDI, same problem, can't reach it.

Cheers

This is actually a network outage--we're already on it.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Other servers as well. As Site5-matt said, "This is actually a network outage..."

NAC itself seems to be up, along with pwebtech, but all servers provided through Site5 appear to be down..

Hmmm, maybe someone pulled the plug on the wrong machine before going home?

I'm thinking it's an issue with either the router or switch... as I believe Site5 does operate its own equipment... which would explain why the outage is only affecting Site5 customers.

The problem is with the switch that our core router is plugged into (just outside of our control, basically). Technicians have been on site at NAC for an hour now, and are working on the problem.

Will keep you posted.

Just out of curiosity, not trying to bash or anything... Couldn't they just throw in another switch? Its not like it is a router or anything, it doesn't require any special configuration. I'm sure them being a huge datacenter must have back up switches. Just thought I'd ask.

The problem is more complex than just a bad switch or a bad port on the switch, so plugging in a new switch wouldn't solve the matter. We're still looking into the issue, and will certainly let everyone know when we have more info and when everything is resolved.

Thanks for your understanding.

Update:

It appears as though we are not the only client affected by this problem--just the first to notice . We now know the cause of the problem, and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Thanks again for everyone's patience!

Yes, Matt always give the best support to me.
Generally he always replied my emails within 5-10 minutes.
In this case I believe there's no such thing as 100% network uptime.
