View Full Version : Namecheap locked my (and my clients) domains
Flammable 09-04-2004, 04:10 PM Namecheap.com have locked my namecheap account, i run a webhosting business (swaza.com) and i think one of my clients domains has caused some sort of problem, even most of the domains are clan websites or gaming websites.
I have over $350's worth of domains with them, and they didnt email me with warning, they just locked the account. I emailed them and they said "suspicon of fraud" without giving any details why they could think of this.
This is for my business like my bank accounts being frozen, i cant modify domains, create new domains for customers, renew domains, still i get automated messages about renewing some clients domains but i cant, because the account is locked.
I have since emailed them twice, demanding further details, but they will not reply. I used them to register all my clients domains.
I contacted enom, and the support literally laughed at me and said "I understand their support is usually quite fast".
What am i supposed to do when no one replies, and the only person that can sort things out just tells me to do what i have been doing (aswell as being extremely rude)?
Thanks
wilsonalverez 09-04-2004, 04:46 PM so sorry to hear your problem(does not suprise me knowing namecheap) . I would recommend contact enom mgmt, i have done so in the past and they resolved issue and saved me from namecheap useless support

Looks like he takes good care when he hears about something..
Flammable 09-04-2004, 07:20 PM Thanks for your help.
enetwork 09-05-2004, 01:01 AM Swaza,
Either you or someone with access to your account has used it for fraud. You've also opened three seperate accounts with us under different names and different addresses that are almost identical except for a certain number or street name. One of the usernames was running a site to steal peoples information. If you email me I will refer you to specific transactions.
barrywien 09-05-2004, 07:23 AM Sounds like your account was suspended for a very good reason in that case, but I would just like to add that from my experience namecheap are VERY good at responding.
I contacted them at 6:15 on christmas eve last december, expecting a responce after christmas day but no, I got a responce within 15 minutes which made me very happy.
gx10vn 09-05-2004, 07:29 AM U r lucky barrywien :)
Namecheap also hard to reach, they don't reply me the email last year.
They answer u very fast, and lock your account very fast, too.
barrywien 09-05-2004, 08:41 AM Ive never heard of them going around locking random accounts, but if your account has been blocked it would of been for a good reason, such as the above fraud attempts.

It seems one of the sites on my account which he hasnt even told me about has been stealing information.
The 3 accounts he is talking about, 1 is the main account, 2 is an account to which the user requested to be able to modify information, 3 is an account which was created when a new customer joined after the first account was suspended and i needed to register another domain with them so i had to create another account.
I think that namecheap do not understand how serious this is, they have locked my domains and i cant renew them, clients are extremely mad. Im going to contact enom if they dont sort it out in 24 hours.
barrywien 09-05-2004, 11:28 AM I think you should be more worried about what they plan to do now that your account has been suspended. I presum they plan to pass the information onto the authorities, which is serious stuff.
Flammable 09-05-2004, 12:03 PM Im worried about my clients loosing their domains at this time, thats all.

If you pay namecheap already for names they have no authoritys to take control back. They would need to give proof nit just accuse. I would say contact enom and have their legal dept take control of problem.
enetwork 09-05-2004, 01:52 PM Flammable,
You have chosen to take this to a public message board to attempt to put pressure on us. You are not the first person that has commited fraud to do so. It's funny how people do illegal things yet expect fast customer service. Sorry but we place fraudsters in the back of the line, period. You opened up three accounts with us, ALL with the same password and almost exact contact information listed except for a few nuances here and there to attempt to hide yourself. One of the accounts which WAS opened by you or someone VERY close to you was committing a serious crime. Just because you use one of the accounts legally, does not mean you are protected if you are using other accounts illegally.
I can refer you all to several other threads here at webhosting talk were fraudsters have attempted to put pressure on us the very same way by posting here and slandering our company. The most recent one just a day or two ago charged back a paypal transaction. The funny thing is you always get those certain people in here protecting them before they even realize what the actual situation is. So in ther own way, they do win by posting.
Flammable 09-05-2004, 02:59 PM Of coarse i am trying to preassure you, you are taking hours to respond to my queries. Why cant you understand that the domain in question is that of one of clients? The accounts were created by me, but only 2 of the domains in there are mine, and none are 'RUNEDOMAIN' or any similar.
I am not a fraudster, you are ruining my company which only hosts this person, and you have just taken this to far, you still havnt even given me the domain which is the issue!
barrywien 09-05-2004, 03:14 PM Rather than dragging your business through the forums, would it not be a better idea to call or email the above bloke, or even send him a PM via this forum if support are closed at the weekend.
enetwork 09-05-2004, 03:20 PM By entering your information for an account you are taking responsibility for that account. How can you possibly expect us to differentiate between the two if your personal information is listed there along with your personal password. Why would you assign one of your clients the same password for the account that you use as your own? Wouldn't that place all your clients domains at risk? We can only go by the information and facts we have.
wilsonalverez 09-05-2004, 10:29 PM so you close account based on password? Not good I would expect more proof be provided. Thanks god I left namecheap
Bashar 09-06-2004, 01:54 AM or an account is closed because one of the domains is running warez, hacking or stealing information website?
NH-Benjamin 09-06-2004, 02:15 AM Flammable,
I suggest you contact enom.
Nilomedia 09-06-2004, 02:42 AM People, seems that a serious matter here. try to work it out over phone. posting in forum is useless in such case.
TheServerExperts 09-06-2004, 02:51 AM i agree posting this on a forum wouldnt! speedin things up, try contacting them via phone.

Yes Bashar, that was the case in this situation.
We have already resolved this situation between us. Please close this thread. You may email Flammable for confirmation. Thanks.
