I run several fan sites. Right now, they are parcelled out among several different hosts, simply because when I set each of them up, I needed different things at the time. Some basic info about each of them:

1) Large comic book site. About 120 megs of content. Currently uses about 5-6 gigs of bandwidth a month. Postnuke run site that uses PHP and SQL.

2) Brand new large fan site. I expect it to have about 100-150 megs of content when finished, and I expect it to be high bandwidth. At least 6 gigs a month, maybe a lot more. Postnuke run site that uses PHP and SQL.

3) Small site. Maybe 5 megs of content. Less than half a gig of bandwidth a month. Basic html.

4) Small site. Maybe 20 megs of content. Maybe 3 gigs of bandwidth a month. Basic html.

5) Medium site. Maybe 40 megs of content. Less than half a gig of bandwidth a month. Basic html.

So, adding all that up, I need 350-400 megs of space (that includes some room to grow) and at least 16-20 gigs of bandwidth a month (and would prefer to have more). The kicker is always the bandwidth, since it's so darn expensive.

Right now for all of that, I'm paying a total of $45 a month among all the different hosts. I've looked at dedicated hosting, and that's way too expensive. What are my other options? Do I have any other options that come close to that kind of price? I'd appreciate any advice...I've been using hosting services for a few years now, but am not really clear on what other options may be available especially for a situation such as mine.

Lease a server and put it at a cheap colocation center.

$45 per month for 20 GB of transfer is about as cheap as you're going to get...and still get good service. Hosts have to make money of their customers, ya know. :D
