We're aware of the problem, and monitoring it ;) I'll be asking Annette to up the no. of connections at off-peak times, since that appears to be when it happens most.

For changing the bg color, in your stylesheet under :

A:hover {
background-color : #(hex-value)
}

It'll only work in IE, as Netscape doesn't fully support CSS.
