Hail all,

Question: does anyone have suggestions for cobalt raq4 addons?

things like the neomail... but of course I already have everything from pkg.nl.cobalt.com and cobalt-aid.sourceforge.net

Any other suggestions? (pkg packages preffered)

I have just installed the fileman addon, it works great but I'm not sure if they have put the last version for download yet. But it wouldn't harm to try...

If it doesn't work just send them email saying what happens !

I love it !

I suppose that you have installed webalizer version 2 (http://cobalt-aid.sourceforge.net/) it's got more to it than the first version andso far 3 months with no problems,

Hmm what for example?

Also, I installed it once, major problems... :S

Could you give me your reasons why you prefer this one?

Just a few extra things like stats per country etc ...

But I only suggested it as you seemed to be looking for something that you hadn't already installed. As far as I remember I had to uninstall the 1st version first though !

Portsentry would be something nice to add on....for your own safety sake.

Considering the Cobalt patches are slow to roll out and the Raq4 is not exactly a very secured server.

You can find info on portsentry and logcheck, which is also a handy tool and many others @ http://list.cobalt.com/pipermail/cobalt-security/2001-June/002630.html

If your using microsoft IE click on "Edit" and "Find" enter portsentry and click a few times untill you get the install instructions.. its a little more than half way down the screen.

Portsentry is a nice little prog which helps monitor tcp and udp ports on your server. It will help you against UDP flooding and malicious hackers who try to listen in on ports...or even try to open ports on your server. It will throw suspicious users into the hosts.deny file so they cannot connect to your server.

First step in guarding your server pal......

(this is a definite needed program...ive seen so many raq4's get compromised (fully updated ones)

One more thing........pkg.cobalt.com is not exactly the brightest place to go to all the time. For instance couple months ago, they put a SSH package......which had the largest security hole in the world for the raq4 server............. it was an open invitation to hackers.
