I'm trying to add in some software on my raq4, on line with it on telnet, but it keeps telling me that permission is denied. I'm logged on with admin, but the only directory i'm able to upload to is the tmp? Thanks for any help!:bawling:
Type "su root" then your admin pw and you will have full access. USE WITH CAUTION

Bail out of telnet.. Go to your cp and TURN IT OFF.. go to cobalt and get the ssh package and then ttsh search on google to get the local ssh client.. then and only then go back in and do your bidding..
Geesh! How many times do we have to repeat this..
TELNET = BAD
SSH = GOOD
TELNET = BAD
SSH = GOOD!
Comon guys, let's stick together on this and maybe, just maybe, eventually, we'll see boxes come stock with ssh installed and telnet will be a bad memory!
Telnet = sending your password in plain text.
ssh = encrypting it..
Shortfussed!
I never said to use telnet, i use only ssh on my machines, but if he cant get in as root, how can he install ssh ? :)

On your question... Easy... via the GUI. The ssh pkg file available on the cobalt site does not require any command line to install..
We're talking about RaQ's here... right?

I assume we are talking cobalt :) We dropped our cobalts a few months ago (and purchased real servers) so I was not aware there was ssh available for raqs (Didnt know a raq could handle ssh without dropping dead:) ) - anywho, i think you should flame the first guy and not me, i never suggested telnet i was just answering the guys question - hes the one using telnet.

Who's flamin? I corrected your statement and clarified the facts.. Flaming is something else entirely.
Shortspark
Addendum: via edit.. the comments about "real" servers IMHO *is* flaming.. so, I'd suggest... don't get me started.. OK?

Del, back here,
The only reason I was using Telnet was for original start-up
This raq4 is on a LAN right now to set it up.
I have installed the ssh program and Cobalt ssh updates
works wonderful. The only glitch was the DNS server got
screwed up had to reboot and everyhting started fine.
Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for all your help!
