So...who else is going to announce a new control panel? Jag 01-11-2002, 04:05 PM It will certainly be an interesting year. :) MCHost-Marc 01-11-2002, 04:40 PM Originally posted by Jag It will certainly be an interesting year. :) Definately :D ;) Walter 01-11-2002, 05:39 PM Hopefully! Timothy 01-11-2002, 06:50 PM I agree. A variety of control panels is something this industry has been missing. Until recently, not many options were avaliable. NetXL 01-11-2002, 08:57 PM It's excellent. The hosting industry will not look as repetitive from a customer point of view. It'll be great to watch them compete. :D Jag 01-11-2002, 09:12 PM Nice sig NetXL :) NetXL 01-11-2002, 09:17 PM Heh Pardon? What's so good about it  :stickout Jag 01-11-2002, 09:25 PM "New sig coming soon." Just thought that was funny. :) alpha 01-11-2002, 09:30 PM right on! new CPs! greg, hope HostGUI is coming along nicely ;) the screen shots looks nicely polished, is there an ability to skin the control panel with ease? I get frustrated when i try to skin cpanel - ugh! anyways, what language is HostGUI coded in? thanks NetXL 01-11-2002, 09:31 PM Originally posted by Jag "New sig coming soon." Rockin' :) Jag 01-11-2002, 09:42 PM Originally posted by alpha right on! new CPs! greg, hope HostGUI is coming along nicely ;) the screen shots looks nicely polished, is there an ability to skin the control panel with ease? I get frustrated when i try to skin cpanel - ugh! anyways, what language is HostGUI coded in? thanks Yes , on several levels. The themes are designed with headers and footers allowing resellers and server admins to change how a theme looks in minutes literally. The style tags in the header along with the logo on both the header and footer can be changed very quickly using plain html tags. The themes are written in php, the frontend is php , the backend is C++, and data is tored in mysql. We have also alread packaged 4 themes for use with HostGUI. The one you see on the site, two other graphic ones and a text version. All using header and footer so each could be altered quickly to give a new look and feel. In a days work you could literally make a few dozen themes from what we have bundled so far. But we also have others that are donating themes that will be packaged with HostGUI. These folks will get credit for their work. There is really to much to post here so I will work on getting all the details on the site as fast as I can. alpha 01-11-2002, 09:53 PM hmm, are independent designers allowed to submit themes for the bundled themes when hostgui is released? im interested in doing some themes for hostgui, sounds like it won't be as rough as cpanel Jag 01-11-2002, 10:09 PM Do you mean submit themes to us to package or create and sell themes on your own? Either way the answer is yes . While you can quickly change the looks and feel using hte header/footer technique you can also change the entire theme and build your own using the hostgui tags.. but as with cpanel that would require you to edit quite a few pages. alpha 01-11-2002, 10:27 PM I guess I wasn't clear on what I said... yes, i meant... are independent designers allowed to submit themes to you to include in the bundled themes that would come along with when someone buys the HostGUI package... i would be interested in submitting themes to HostGUI :) Jag 01-11-2002, 10:36 PM Yes, definitely. I will make a new forum at our HostGUI forums for just themes so yourself and others can add themes. code_renegade 01-12-2002, 10:13 AM Back to the topic... Yes, I am having a commercial CP developed. I'm not going to say too much about it, but the beta version is coming out 2 months later or so. I'll be looking for some voluteer beta testers by then. All I can say is that I'm really excited about this cp, because it's going more stuff than you guys can ever dream of - seriously! Oh, so around 2 months later, I'll be posting a PDF brochure telling you guys all the great features of the CP - it'll knock your eyes out for sure! :D And no, I'm not bragging, but let's just wait until then and you'll agree with me ;) Jag 01-12-2002, 06:25 PM alpha, I created a "themes" forum at http://www.hostgui.com/support/forum/ . You can join us there to contribute themes to HostGUI. We look forward to seeing you there ;) . |
