i'm looking into buying a server. i want a 1u rack server with a reasonable sized hard drive and i need it to be quite cheap. is there any places you know of?

I happen to have one, but I'm sure if I'm going to sell it just yet. Email me so you have my address and if I do end up selling it, I'll let you know before I post it in the advertsing forum (we have to stick to the rules as well:)). Otherwise, I'd check errr... ebay? That aren't all that inexpensive.

Well I had a URL of a site that had build instructions, and the cases were the kicker at errrrr... about $300 (+/- $50 I can't quite remember), which brings the price to about $1K total for everything.

There are a few places that sell them, but no one has had an experience with them, so if you'd like to be a guinea pig??? :)

You can get 'em from DELL (pricey), and a few other places, but I'd have to dig for URLs and check around a bit.

I would say thats a big no it doesnt even list what processor and a 1gig hard drive, I think I have a 486 with more space than that :)
