Hello to all,

I need some info from people who are now using or know about this. I'm looking at OpenSRS site but I didn't find what I want to know. So, I hope people in here can help. Help really appreciate.

Can someone tell me how exactly OpenSRS works? With their Full Access implementation, who handle the payment process from my client? Me or OpenSRS charge my client?

Do I need to pay setup fee to be their reseller? With the Full Access software/cgi, what else do I need? Do I need to write/code additional CGI scripts?

Do they have additional features/tools like Domain Twist, NameSpin, Word Wizard or similar features in their software?

Please advise, help really appreciate. Thank you.

Warm regards,
Leslie

Hi I have been using opensrs for a while now.
I began with their quick start mode, registering domains through their control panel. About three months later I set up their full software on a Linux box, It was the first time I had used Linux and it took about two days to set up. I suppose it woul be easy if I had used linux before.
The billing is done by yourself, you are responable for linking their software to your credit card processing and secure servers, I didnt actually do this, the templates have a credit card form on which i removed as i did not charge for domains and I also set it up not to register live but to wait for my authorisation.
You do not have to write code but you do need to know a little to get the scripts to work, also you will probably have to install a few modules.
You do not have to pay set up fees. If you are using full inplementaion you have to credit your account $250 but if you start with quick start you need to deposit $500
The software comes with domain managment for your clients to update their DNS, contacts etc.
They dont seem to have any additional features that i know of.

Oh I am now using the software on Win 2000, after setting up on Linux is was easy on the Win 2000 box.

Hi jgriff64,

Thanks for your help. Do you have any idea on which reselling program that handle billing for me too. Means that they'll charge my client the price that I've set.

Second important this is that I can setup my own look and feel

Third, my client will have Domain name Management Control Panel.

And last, better if it's below USD10, USD 9.90 also acceptable. Please advise, Thank you.

Warm regards,
Leslie

I have only used openSRS, it is fine for me. I dont really know about any of the others.
The templates on openSRS are good and easy to modify to your own look and feel.
I would be intersted to hear other peoples comments on setting up the opensrs software to take payments. What payment companies have people set it up with?

Dotster will handle all processing for you. Then you just receive payment from them for the difference between your wholesale price and retail. I have used their service for some time and been very satisfied.

Hi,

Sometimes, I'm really wondering that this NET world is really this small. I'm trying to look for service provider that really commited and really in business, also can't get.

With what I need, I search and search... and what I get is company that don't commit/serious.

Trying to get some help from folks in WHT (here), what I get is only what I've filtered out.

All the suggestion of Dotster, ItsYourDomain and etc...

For those who suggest Dotster, didn't you have any problem with their system? I have problem with their control system. Always log me out after I logged in. And the features for my client like NameSpin and etc... always show the following message when I try to use it:

"No Settings for system"

OR (the or is my comment)

"Your session has expired.

Why does my session expire?

Sessions expire for two reasons:

1. For your security, your session expires a maximum of 2 hours after you last site access.
2. If you do not accept the cookies set on login or your computer is not configured to accept cookies, your session will expire almost immediately. We use cookies (small pieces of site information) to assist us in user authentication and in saving configuration information. Cookies are required for this system.

If you see this message immediately after accessing this site, you should check the following:
Check to see that your computer system time is accurate. Cookies are time sensitive and may not work if your computer date is incorrect by a large amount.

Make sure that your browser is configured to accept cookies.
Turn off any third party programs or control panels that automatically reject cookies.

No settings."

What is this? I can only use it when I set my cookie acceptant MANUALLY! Wasn't this suppose to work with DEFAULT OS configuration?

They expect all our client to set the browser cookie seeting to REGISTER (do business with them with more trouble)? :stickout

Second, contact with no reply. They call this business? How can I or anyone who want to provide a good/committed/reliable services to our client rely on them? Site down like normal (as having dinner or ****ting). Provide a not acceptable SO-CALLED good integration, Error 500 in control panel for reseller  ... Try to contact them but no reply...

MrRegistrar.com, another good reseller program from out look (skin that you can see)... What is inside is something that doesn't reply email for ONE WEEK

Is this another services that you're gonna rely on for your services? I bet not...

I don't want some day my client come to me and ask me why their domain management control panel cannot login and I try to ask them but without getting any answer... What should I answer to my client?

IS IT REALLY NO BETTER CHOICE FOR RESELLING DOMAIN?

Not to mention OpenSRS and etc...

What I'm talking and expecting here is in their level of features. Not big plan like OpenSRS and Enom and etc...

If you're not agree, hit me back...

Warm regards,
Leslie

Hello
If you want to do it properly you need to either develop your own system or use OpenSRS
Its the only viable off the shelf reseller system where you retain the clients no matter what.

We are heading back to OpenSRS after a period with Stargate.
Stargates reliability has been appalling recently.
Fortunately I was able to do a deal with OpenSRS to cut the price a bit based on our volume of sales.
(before anyone asks - they need you to be selling at least 500 domain registration years per month before they will consider negotiating with you).

All of the others are OK, but I would rather paya bit more and not have to wait till 09:30 CST for someone to reboot a WIndows server after 10 hours down time most days .........

No...I have had no problems with Dotster other than the rare occasion of it not being available briefly. Set-up was easy...and all functions work properly. Register an average of 10 domains per week, trouble free. However, I do know others have experienced some problems, just don't know why, as my setup went so easily.

Incognito,

I'm really feel bad. You're lucky that you have no probs at all...

Do you set/change your browser cookies setting? This really weird. I never have weird problem that I have and others don't.

Just with registrar/resell program. Really don't know why...

But do you set anything? Please advise. Thank you.

Warm regards,
Leslie
