as the title says how is CPU power is shared among VPS? If I put a great load on CPU would the server crash?
Do you think VPS at EV1 can support a VB forum with 30-120 members online at all time?

The Ev1, does not write down what is the specifacations of theyr server . minimun CPU, and jhow many VPS in a server and what kind of server.
Normaly for 30-120 will be ok for a forum a VPS100 like i have in dinix.com or a vps at vpscolo.com will have no proplem.
The ev1 servers VPS is away some for the price and 20GB space and the 200GB bandwidth.
The virtuozzo looks very much with the http://www.solucorp.qc.ca/miscprj/s_context.hc?prjstate=1&nodoc=0 read there to c how this sharring can be done.
What I suggest. find and an other friend or other person. Take a dedicated server and split the price .
Then setup 2 Virtual servers and you will be ok .
You will spent the same cash (2 * $40) and you will have away better performance.
Setup the uml virtal server based is better and more secure and easier to setup.
Good luck

dinix.com VPS includes up to 4GB or ram! how is that possible?
I thought each individual account has its own ram. Is ram shared as well?

if you read the link i put before you will c.
in general lines what happen is.
The run the main kernel ... and with a program the start the VPS server. wich isolates the proccess under the new vps wich is created.
All the proccess runs in the kernel of the main machine.
And is like to execute something in th main host but the deferense is that the VPS user c this proccess as is hims and the other VPS dont c it. But the main server can c. Is like to masque from the others .
So they have minimun 128MB and if no one else use the ram you will gain all the available RAM
The same and with the CPU. you have 128MHZ or something like that and you gain if no one else use it.
ask The ev1 to specific about the price is awaysome... 20GB and 256 minimun ram... 200GB transfer cost to the other about $90
If they have a CPanel they will kill all the other VPS hosting companies :)

Ask about support. What do they support? If a user is having trouble with Plesk - do they help? If scripts are having issues - do they help? Well, most true VPSs provider do. It is a managed solution. From what I can see, ev1 is offering a service that is introduced in standard ev1 fashion. In this case, take something and oversell bandwidth, use IDE drives (my guess) to offer more space then others, and do so at a lower point then others. That is fine. But what does it really include? Places like Servint and Dinix provide managed VPSs. Huge difference for the extra dollars you pay with them.
Offering dedicated servers that are unmanaged is one thing. Offering a VPS unmanaged is another. People buy VPSs that shouldn't. They need much more support then a dedicated or shared customer. Ev1 will find this out soon enough.......
Also, their offer isn't that "great". I see many offering similar offerings and it will not take long for others to simply increase their space and bandwidth offer to match Ev1. The beauty of this is Ev1 doesn't have a large buying power advantage over other VPSs host. Servers cost about the same, Virtuozzo and Plesk bundled cost a few dollars more to smaller host, and bandwidth is cheap everywhere. The result, a fair battle in the VPS world. One where Ev1 can't gain a huge advantage.
I think Ev1 is great company. But their entry into the VPS world will be interesting. I see many people coming here and complaining because they bought something they can't handle. They will blame Ev1's support. I think other places like Dinix and Servint are better for a VPS cause they offer managed service down to the smallest levels and you are not a number in some huge list of customers. But hey, that is just my view.
