Hello,
Previously I had read a thread discussing 3.99 $ domains which is pretty believable as they have only reduced the profit margin.
But this much of a fall in the price of domains is stunning. I was only alerted of this by a post made on my forum - http://www.webhosts-discussion.com/index.php?showtopic=312
I wonder as to how they can afford to offer such a low price.... It is understood if you have to buy hosting first as the costs will be covered up ... but not in this offer.
Do you'll think the price will last for long or is this just an 'introductory offer' ?

This is dot5hosting, do a search on WHT and you will see why this is an offer to avoid
Hmm, I see ...
Not much of anything positive on them. But what could be the catch? I fail to understand any catch... could it be that you are charged for changing NS or something along those lines ?

They are just trying to emulate the success other companies have had with the loss leader specials

The first domain I registed with them was registered in under 24hrs.
The second one took alittle longer... The third order was screwed up.. had to be re-submitted 3 times.
The fith one, they tell me when I asked about the delay - they tell me I have to fax my identity documents.
I would say they are making it deliberately hard because I haven't purchased hosting to go with it, and they are loosing to much money on me...
If they didn't screw up the 2nd & 3rd orders - I might consider their hosting! Not much chance now though!

Just Curious, HostGuy2004
Have you run a whois search to verify that you are the legal registrant of these domains? Or did Dot5 put themselves down as the Administrative Contact?

I think they are using opensrs as well. If I recall dot5hosting is owned by ipowerweb which uses opensrs themselves

4Solutions: They did something like that for one of the domains. I asked for the enom login - they said they couldn't! so I asked them again - saying they did it for the previous domain I registered with them.
dmaven: actually enom.
I'm seriously considering paying the $100 to get a current enom reseller account - and remove all references to dot5hosting :)
also, I'm thinking of registering dot6hosting.com - "Don't be fooled by lesser webhosting companies" and offering 'moving over specials'. $2.50 domain transfers :)
