After trying out several hosts, I just want to find someone competent, reliable and affordable.

What I need is a package like this one:
http://www.successfulhosting.com/plans/ecommerce.php

I want to use a shared SSL certificate (which they also offer at successfulhosting)
I also need cURL installed on the server (which they don't have)
I need to use cURL to connect to https sites (which they don't have neither)

Also the service should be reliable and fast. Currently I found successfulhosting really slow. Sometimes I need one or two minutes even to connect via FTP.

Maybe someone has experience and can recommend a host for me.

:-) Marian

Marian, these are some posts with the search term cURL in them. I found a couple of hosts posting that they had ti or wanted to install it, etc. You might get some leads from looking through the posts...

Looks like succesfulhosting.com utilizes Alabanza, which is having some very **horrid** connectivity issues over the last few weeks. (We should know - unfortunately we use them as well). We have high hopes that this 'major player' will get their act together and return to the connectivity they were once known for. Food for thought - if you do leave, you might want to find out if the next place is Alabanza-based, and if so whether the network problems have been resolved. Good luck!

cURL is easy to install for just about any host, so you could request it.

thanks for the hints so far.
Anton, I know curl is easy to install. Unfortunately I got a negative reply to my ticket from successfulhosting. They just say it is not installed and they do not plan to install it. That's not very flexible I think :-(

Got a similar reply when I requested to enable JPEG Support for the GD Library (now they support only PNG).

shpilkus: Thanks for the hint about Alabanza. I will check that if I found a new host.
